I know you've compared him to TT, which would be very nice. But that sounds like TT, plus some Hagel. That would be even better. - mohel Just be aware the comps are age related. I am just comparing the type of impact Reichel can have as a player. They are similar in the way they both have good defensive instincts at the same age. Reichel likes to carry the puck more but both have good vision. Reichel will get inside the dots where it took TT some time to move his game inside a bit. |

Yep, his "use by" date has long since passed. - mohel
It passed before he was even traded here. But whateves at this point. Maybe next season Mitchell will switch to his more familiar 15. |

Noted. Not holding you to a projection. I'll be excited to see him when he's ripe. |

Rocky looking to spend money, even with little coming in:

That's interesting. I wonder what the bolded means?
The Blackhawks reportedly want to make upwards of $20 million in improvements to the BMO Harris Bank Center, $16 million of which has already been secured in state, not taxpayer, money

Great write-up Theo. I really enjoy the regular check-in with the prospects, I think the Hawks have a couple guys who could be regular contributors in the pipeline. Reichel is leading players under 21 in the DEL, by a wide margin. His progress has been excellent and lets hope it continues.
We might as well get this out of the way and start with the inevitable, Commesso will go the full 4 years at BU then sign as a free agent with the Rangers. - DarthKane
He'll want to play with Kane.

I don’t know - money coming from the camera speeding tickets? From selling all of the “dibs” detritus the city will sell?
Maybe they mean secured privately “in-state” - or just not Rockford / Winnebago County taxpayer money. |

You may have missed his point. He was talking about balance within the salary cap, not honoring greats.
The cap makes it tough, but most teams that win are imbalanced to a degree. It is just tough to maintain a position as Cup contender. - mohel
I would like to see a GM try to keep those Edmonton teams together today let alone simply Gretzky and Messier lol! |

So watching the video - yes, it’s state money, not local taxpayer money.

This may be a little off topic.
I love the way Hagel plays. But I hope the Hawks management, team doctors, and veteran players caution Hagel about playing physical but not being too reckless. He needs to pick his spots and protect himself. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Colliton, Toews, Seabs, Shaw in particular can provide counsel. They can use themselves, Bolland, Bickell and others as examples of players that played that style and it shortened their careers. - -Doh-

Or those Islanders. Or a bunch of the Habs teams.
Just made me think of something.....would Scotty Bowman have the most NHL wins if he had the cap breaking up his rosters? How many fewer Cups? |

Sounds like Dallas may have a real home ice advantage by the playoffs, if they make it. Texas is removing the mask mandate and opening 100%. I imagine both FL teams will as well. Not sure about the Canes. - mohel
Just waiting to hear the numbers reported covid positive and. Covid deaths after re-opening. There are many people whom are waiting to get the shot or don't want or plan to get it. There is new strains which reports say the vaccinations do not protect very well - a booster shot is needed after your vaccination. But Pfizer, for one example, in Chicagoland has not yet officially said they would also give the booster. The mutated strain is spreading through California and reportedly will be the major strain throughout the country by the end of March.
For some reason both the maskless man and his wife decided drinking bleech wasn't good enough, so they got the vaccination before he left office.
Don't fret whether CEO'S of big corporations and many Republicans get the shot but vote against safe mask wearing and both stimulis checks and public availability of vaccination. Biden will eventually come riding to the rescue. After more pos tests and deaths. Three cheers for politicians who love big Corp more than the people who elect them |

Well, we heard that there was going to be a large increase in Florida because of the Super Bowl. Yet cases there have continued to plummet.
More and more fans will be at games soon.

Let's see the number of fans at pro sports if covid numbers start to rise. The fact remains many have not yet had the shot, aren't fully protected because they haven't received both shots, nor had a booster (which may be necessary). Then too the strain in California coming soon everywhere, is a big issue if as reported the current vaccinations do not protect very well.
It will be a long time before covid is not a major health issue. Less a threat.....yes....incremental steps it is less a threat because still many people won't get vaccinated. |

Great idea.
I believe something like 4 of the worst 10 counties for COVID positivity rates in the country are in Texas, but yeah,
”Let’s open everything up right before spring break...what could possibly go wrong?”
Don’t mess with Texas! Unless you’re Mother Nature, then you can mess Texas right the (frank) up.
Bright side, the world will be a better place with fewer Texans in it. - Ogilthorpe2

New York, New Jersey, and New York City all have a significantly higher current 7 day average number of cases per thousand people than does Texas. Florida is slightly better than TX. The former states have been locked down tighter than a crab's arse. Texas and Florida haven't. So maybe it is a good idea.
I got the info directly from the CDC Covid tracker site. In poking around all that data, it appears to be dropping fast across the country. Also, state by state comparisons show very similar patterns in all states throughout the whole year. |
