I believe they have to. The dumb CHL/AHL rules. If they were in any other league they could stay in the A but the CHL has archaic rules to force kids to delay their development to help the league survive

I think drunkie is right they didn't have a choice with the AHL/CHL thing. He would have to play in the NHL or CHL
