Feds Fact Check: False

The penguins have ZERO ppg centers.

- Feds91Stammer

Perhaps some more reading comprehension required here bro... Or perhaps reading past 1st paragraph, I don't know... Said I think they end up there or around there when season is over... and Crosby is 18 in 20 right now.

EDIT: Malkin was over 1.3 ppg just last season. He and Sid generally a ppg or more almsot every season since they started.. But now they're not that anymore in a 20 game sample...sure.

18 in 20 isn’t a ppg and I don’t think they both end up a ppg. Just accept it lol.

I think Sid will, Geno not so much. Target a good winger to play with Geno's line and Top PP.

Do you call someone with 28 goals a 30 goal scorer?

After a season is over you wouldn't say they scored 30 obviously but they are certainly being rounded up in some convos. Convos I've seen many places including here.

Where does a 0.9ppg center land in your mind? Elite? Star? Run of the mill?

I'm 102nd overall n HBSL... And this is the first week I forgot to set lineup... Already losing bad to one of the bottom dwelling teams in division... Dirt
- MattStrat

I’m probably not making the wild card. I’m 4-3 and 8th in my division. Had a tough loss last week. I had like the third highest score in my division, but the dude I played the highest lol.

I would say Star I guess. Not elite.

I wouldn’t rate players on ppg because there’s a lot of context missing but I don’t think Crosby or Malkin are elite anymore. High end/star tier still but not elite.

I gave up a week ago when I was still in a playoff spot. Postponed games ruin the fun of it for me.

I agree for sure. I still think Sid is capable of PPG though.

Rust can’t do what Kessel did

Guentzel can’t do what Horny did

And the other 3 pieces to the PP are in a state of decline

- Feds91Stammer

Kessel wasn't here last season and the power play still produced.

If we remember back to last year Sullivan tried numerous times to take Hornqvist off the top unit. It never worked and Sulli kept having to go back to Hornqvist.

I stayed away from all fantasy hockey this year because of that reason.

Geno could be a lot better, no fn question, but with Zucker for all those games it didn't do Geno's production any favours. Their negative chemistry was on display almost every shift.

I agree...but that's my original point. I still think they're good important pieces.. But they're not playing in net, they're not behind the bench making decisions and they're not playing on the 4th line haha

Yeah... produced compared to this season. They were still middle of the road compared to years past.

They were 16th in the NHL. (19.9%)

Kessel's last year they were 5th. (24.6%)

I got F'd in the A by postponed games. Now I just randomly pick my lineup without much thought.

Yeah and my point is as they slip further away from the elite tier the supporting cast and special teams matter more and more. I just don’t see any logical way to have an optimistic view of this team lol.

I've been picking very good lineups since my opening two losses which were a result by all those postponed games. I had four wins in a row, then poop luck the other week.

Some of that drop off can be attributed to Kessel leaving. Sullivan's reluctance to use Hornqvist also contributed.

We had this conversation quite often when Kessel was here. The PP was much better with Hornqvist than without. The writing was on the wall last year, we all new the PP was going to suffer the day Hornqvist was traded..

Right, especially with only having 3 lines. It's really bad. I said it before that Sid and Geno couldn't overcome a garbage 4th line in their primes and they certainly won't do it now. That being said I'm ok with making trades for guys under contract for next season as well because I think it's possible for them to make a better roster next season but they can start improving it now, but don't go after rentals.

The only way to feel optimistic is if Hex improves that supporting cast. Something that JR botched badly, but when handled right, this team is in good financial position to make serious upgrades.

I've reserved myself to the fact this season is lost. I personally just don't see this team making the playoffs unless someone else just hits a nice skid. I do however think that this team could be build for one serious run next year if handled right.

That said, and I should pull a Barnaby and "give them a chance," but I fully expect Hex and Burke to get some mouth-breathers instead focusing on just getting better players.

We're on the same page. Make a move or 2 with next year in mind but can also help now. Start getting some chemistry going. Honestly if they aren't gonna play Zucker with Sid then they should trade him.
