Zib is on the Rangers for 5 years and improved every year and now after 19 games he a Piece of poop. Its the problem with Ranger fans in general. He will figure it out. his career is not over he will be a point a game player again and if we trade him we will regret it. |

I continue to call bullpoop in this- they signed Trouba for more money. They could have had Hayes and Panarin!! - Greschnergy#4
At the time, they had Zib, Strome, Hayes, Chytil, Howden AND Lias
They had no top pairing RHD.
Not fair to play Monday morning qb on the situation without recognizing they would have been without a top pairing dman if they kept Hayes. |

All the guys you mention were unproven at the time and if you remember hayes and zib were about equal. Zib busted out last year |

Essentially the move was them choosing Kreider over Hayes. The price difference isnt significant enough to matter in terms of signing Panarin. |

Simple minds find it hard to understand most things. If you take your loss into account its easier to understand. - Brukie
They needed to bring in talent regardless if they were ready to win the cup. Had to build a different mindset.
He is arguable the best FA signing they have had in their history. |

The team needs some players with size. Lemeuix as game as he was to fight at end just isn’t big enough. Same story every year |

Panarin signing will never be bad, even if he doesn’t come back this year. I don’t think Zib is done, covid and if I was a betting man I’d say he say a concussion hangover.
Never wanted Trouba and still don’t. Watched him lots in Winnipeg and wasn’t all that impressed. As for Howden , said he was bad when they got him and he struggles defensively. I’d be onboard with Eichel if they could pull it off some how.
I really don’t mind the talent on the team I just wonder about heart and if they have a leader. They may have one in the locker room which we know nothing about but most of the time it doesn’t show on the ice. |

An argument could be made to not sign either.
During a rebuild, I was not sold on signing Kreider at all. I do believe management may have thought he was possible captain material and a leader for the rebuilding team as a reason for signing him. I did not see it as a good investment. Trust in the prospects you will be grooming to fill the winger slots. Now it looks like the Rangers has just that and potential good set of top 6 wingers without Kreider. |

Agree with this.
Trading Zib when his stock is low is a mistake. It is akin to selling a a solid company stock just because it dipped. Like I said and some others have said, the main benefit is the Rangers may save coin on the resign. But there is no logical argument to state this is Zib's norm. |

Who knew we were going to get LAF though? Even if we drop him to the 3rd line, we have enough kids on the team that the cap hit won’t kill us. The future of the top 9 on the wings is something to get excited about, Panarin Laf Kakko Kreider Kravtsov Barron |

Of course not. Who would have predicted the Rangers getting Laf. I am not attempting to use a hindsight argument to his signing. I am more of a 'trust in the rebuild process' that you will draft the primary pieces and then fill in through smart signing/trades along the way. Kreider did not seem to fit either for me at the time. |

Were still the youngest team in the league, we need some vets to show these kids the eight way. Like I said, I’m perfectly fine with Kreider dropping to the 3rd line in a year or 2 when some of these kids develop and take top 6 roles. |

Not with you here. Having said it would have been much smarter to have never traded for him and used the money for Hayes, but what’s done is done. I dont agree with this board that Trouba is a POS akso. He brings an important element, a snarl. A toughness, that championship teams require. As for is he worth 8m. My guess is that he would be able to command that or close to it if he was a free agent today.

I mean you can call bullpoop on it all you want, but it is what they did
everybody thought the Flyers overpaid for Hayes too, with a NMC on top of it
we gotta learn to let guys go around here

You’re right about letting go! I just want to be on record before its done that trading or not resigning Zib would be a huge mistake. Write it down please 😂 |

I'd agree he is overpaid for his skill set.
I see Trouba as a 'keep it simple stupid' player. When he plays his game, he is effective in exactly what you guys described him as. And very good at it. When he tries to be or do more, then he gets himself in trouble. He doesn't have that skillset leeway. Amd that is ok. He doesn't need to have it. So Troubas biggest enemy isnt his skills or contract. Its his head. Do what you're good at. |

Agree fully and the good part is he doesn’t have to be that guy on this team- we have Fix and Nils on the way (and Jones)

Absolutely agree. And I've said the same thing before. My belief is Kreider wasn't the right player at this time for the job the Rangers needed him to be. Kreider is perfect for the 2nd/ 3rd line bounce. But the price may be too much as there are other players that can provide leadership and some of his skillset for the current team. I am big on the right players for the team. |

Speaking of keeping it simple stupud. You take the next step of 'hes dead to me' approach. I like it. Like those toying with..bring back Stepan. Nope. He's gone. Hes dead to me. |
