Gauthier should be getting top 6 minutes with everyone out, kid has a bag of tools and Quinn won’t allow him to showcase them
- KreiderBomb

We’re besties again! Lol

I agree. He is not getting enough opportunity. I could careless about mistakes too right now, in this particular season. These kids are going make them, and you live with it because you are developing players.

Nothing against the Rooney’s, the Blackwells, the DiGs, etc...but with his draft pedigree he needs more ice then those guys too

I am beyond frustrated with Buchnevich, he makes me crazy
- jimbro83

He’s the obvious next man out with a contract coming up and his role being replaced by Kravstov who’s upside is much higher

Blackwell has earned a spot, Rooney and PDG can waste away in Hartford

30 million for Trouba, Eichle and Panarin. Even with the money being recovered from the buyouts that is hard to swallow with the cap set where it is for the next 3 years or so. Kills any chances of signing a decent free agent or 2. Just to throw a little poop into the mix, Eichle has 2 goals so far this season. That’s 3 less than Buchnevich which many here want gone. Yeah, I know.....

Really thinking we should target either Hertl or Keller then draft Beniers in the summer rather than give that pick to Buffalo for a cap killer
- KreiderBomb

Very much into this idea. Either Beniers or Johnson. Johnson is more the flashy type, while Beniers is more the 200-ft player.

well the problem with getting rid of Rooney is that he is the only one who can win a faceoff, I think he's earned to stay over Howden, who has really become useless

I was watching highlights of both and youre dead on. Either one would be the pick for them. Theyd need a top 7 pick probably tho

That is true, I’m proposing a Howden and DeAngelo for Bennett and Kylington deal straight up

Just remember dealing DeAngelo is the same as dealing a bag of pucks.

More Ice time?
- Slimtj100

TJ, if you look at last games stats Gautier and Brodzinski had almost identical stat lines, except JBrod had one more shot on goal and an extra 47 seconds.
So, what exactly is Gautier doing to earn this extra ice time? Because you want it isn't good enough.
He is in tough for a wing spot on this roster, just like the others. All he has done to distinguish himself so far is be large, get drafted in the 1st round and make a bunch of defensive/slash positioning errors.
Like the guys are saying here, if he is going to take that spot, it's on him to step up and deliver what the coaches are asking for.

Easy for you to say you don't care about mistakes.
I don't get how you and Vin can ignore the other side of the argument so blindly.
How do you just throw kids out there because of their "pedigree", when it results in goals against and losses?
Draft pedigree is the biggest pile of bullpoop I've ever heard of. Not a single coach gives a flying (frank) where you were drafted if you don't listen to what they're saying and bust your ass to see it done. Anything less and the player has no one else to blame but themselves.

What’s funny is we all clamor about crashing the net getting dirty goals...here we have a kid who does just that, yet he’s been on the 4th line every game he’s played. This isn’t about being disciplined, it’s about seeing what you actually have in a player. And my opinion is, he doesn’t get enough of an opportunity to show what he has. My point on mistakes is yes kids make them, but you don’t bury someone because he makes a few mistakes. Especially someone who was a first rd pick. 6’4, 227, blazing speed, hard shot...yea let’s let him rot on the 4th line, that’s a sound strategy

Well said man. Imagine if we had applied this logic for when we signed Daigle back in the day? Imagine had we blocked Hank because you know we took Montoya in the 1st round?

TJ, all these kids are around 6'0" 200lbs. It's not like Gaut is a different species.
And when around half your roster are kids, yeah you bury the ones who are consistently making costly errors.
He's on the 4th line. Not the taxi squad and not the Wolfpack. That is what they have given him. If he wants of the 4th line, it's up to him to show it. Period.

To be fair, Gaut has been driving the net more noticeably than most. But, this is one facet of what they need from him. I don't see him make glaring mistakes left, right and center. But, obviously the coaches are seeing things they can't ignore.

That’s my point! Jesus. We don’t know what he is BECAUSE he’s only been on the 4th line. He isn’t a 4th line player.

We’re gonna lose him and he’s going to blossom somewhere else and we’ll be kicking ourselves.

When he has the puck he drives to the net. He doesn’t have the puck much because he’s on the damn 4th line!

To both sides of this argument that has been espoused. Gauthier's qualities, which TJ and others have brought brings up, can help mitigate some of the errors he makes but would entail Gauthier doing those thing on a far more regular basis to the end of being a net positive.

Jesus Christ, TJ. What is that expect them to do for this kid??
Is Kakko a 4th liner? Is Buch? Is Quinn supposed to put him above those guys just 'cause he's 6 foot f#cking 4??????????

I'll say this Slim, if that happens it wouldn't be the first time a player has done that and it will not be the last. We are also far from the only team that has ever happened to, I'm sure Nashville doesn't like seeing Blackwell blossom for us any more. You just can't run a team based on what ifs, if someone in reality is outperforming Gaut, then you need to give that person ice time. If Gaut is good enough to rise off the 4th, he will show it.
