Hutchinson was good in both starts against Calgary but I have to believe Edmonton comes out firing tonight. - PatC80
Hutchinson is a goalie with extremely bad technique whose athleticism can be enough for short periods against some teams. Good luck against a pissed off McGod |

For it to work for us they need to retain plus bring back a guy with salary so a combination of $2.5 for a year and a half and Kerfoot at $3.5 for 2 and a half years. They better really, really like the picks and prospects that come with that. My guess is that it’s easier for them to do a deal somewhere else. - Canada Cup
Why does NSH have to take salary back?
The leafs had nearly 3.5 M in accumulated cap space a few weeks ago. I’m sure it’s climbing. |

I think/thought it was still under $100k in cap space... Unless, we put Andersen on LTIR?
Edit: Forgot that Simmonds is on LTIR right now |

Mirtle had an article a few weeks ago and mentioned by his calculations the Leafs had around 3.5 M in accumulated cap space.
I don’t understand it and I don’t think any of the mainstream media does either.
But yes, according to Mirtle it seems they could have 4-6 million in cap space by the time the deadline rolls around. |

To many people talking about Forsberg, not enough people talking about Granlund.
He would light it up with Tavares and Willie, far cheaper to acquire at a far more manageable number. No commitment beyond this year and don't have to hit the team with a rocket strike to land him. 🤷🏻♂️ |

And next year? Or will they just trade him for no salary coming back? If they like Forsberg more than Willie or Rielly or Andersen and are prepared to lose some combination of them to keep him, fine. If not, equal money has to go out. Dubas can’t start an important offseason unloading Forsberg |

I'm going to give credit to the defence for Saturday night - we held McDavid to 1 shot on goal, and Drysaitl to 3. |

i am not 100% sure, but I think what was said was they would have enough space they could add a player who makes 4-6 mil (full season)

Watch those numbers for every team, they fluctuate up and down as they make moves...accumulated space does not go down once you add it. Its a poor algorithm that isn’t accurate.
Mirtle said they had around 3.5 M by his calculations a few weeks ago. I’m going with the actual human on this one over a generated site that may or may not be accurate. |

Yes, it’s been mentioned a few times throughout their articles so far.
I have no idea how. But I assume it’s a combo of accumulated cap space and the fact players cap his drop every day as well. |

The leafs already have enough shiny things. 😆
To many contending teams (frank) it up by trying to finagle a high end player who changes the composition of the team into their lineup. |

Well he has 1 year on his deal.
If he had 2 years on it he’d be the obvious target. |

The no power plays helped too.
McDavid and drysaitl on the powerplay against hutch doesn’t exactly sound promising for the leafs. |

Ok, but then what about the following season? Or is it best to assume that Andersen is not re-signed? |

Next year they have a bunch of options.
Don’t resign Hyman
Trade Nylander
Trade Forsberg
If Campbell keeps it up they can add a cheaper 1B instead of a starter
Move a D man out
Plenty of options and plenty of time to find those answers. The rest of the season and playoffs would help Dubas decide. |

The Leafs don’t have a single contract they couldn’t move out. |

The 2021 Toronto Maple Leafs have a winning record:
• against each of the 6 divisional rivals
• when any of their three goalies starts
• without Auston Matthews in the lineup
• at home
• on the road
• in a boat, with a goat, in the rain, on a train...

Sorry but I'm gonna put a hard no on moving a defenceman out.
I've spent way to much of my life watching the leafs blueline as a complete disaster to start hacking away at it now that it looks like they may finally have something.
Noooope. |

I think adding a guy with term would be fantastic.
Do we need to remind everyone on here how Dubas acquired Muzzin? |

at the moment they have 69 mil commited
if they traded for a player who makes 6 mil next year, they would have 75 commited.
the would just have to make the cap work...same as every year if you want to make moves |

Why do we want to move JT?
On a technicality you are right, but is it worth talking about moving him? Hell no. |

Forsberg brings a physical element to go along with high end skill. Granlund is a much better version of Kerfoot. I would still like him on the team, but he’s not Forsberg. |
