I was at game 3 when Toronto won 7-2 to upset Blackhawks 3-0. First year of the hound line, and hadn’t been in the playoffs for a couple of years. The streets were nuts afterward.

One of my weirdest yet most vivid memories of the ‘93 run was driving my dad’s car south on Mt. Pleasant. I was stopped at St. Clair, and a guy was walking across the street in a Leafs jersey. I honked the horn, and he took it the wrong way. Looked at me really aggressively. I pointed to his jersey, pointed to my jersey. He instantly smiled, thumbs up, other cars started honking, pedestrians were high-fiving.

Oh Lord, we had fun.

I agree but it can backfire too. Remember when Buffalo traded 4C Paul Gaustad to Nashville for a first round pick? Then again, Tampa traded Nolan Foote and 2 firsts to get Coleman and Goodrow. It worked out well for them. Sometimes it's the little moves which make a big difference. Like Larry Murphy to Detroit for future considerations. Leafs even paid half his salary the next season. 😉 Thanks Mike Smith.

It’s not without risk. But when its been 50 plus years what else can you do? If you can get to the final 4 it becomes a lot about luck and health.
