To me he just seems a play behind way too many times, like on the 1st goal tonight and sometimes he just has to chase the puck, last game even though it was on deHaans side he had to go attack the forward and the puck instead of protecting the front of the net. We have him at a good price but i want better. - BetweenTheDots Just admit you have an irrational hate for Murphy and be done with it. It happens to all of us. Ogi had Sharp. I have Strome(maybe), LA hates rookies( ), and Mohel has life. |

Yeah, bad goal there - PK also let them down again.
But the offense needs to be able to generate more goals - not just zone time to no apparent purpose. Several times tonite they’ve talked about Detroit being “offensively challenged”: look to your own house, Messrs. Foley and Olczyk.
Our heroes are a 5x5 disaster: 31 goals in 21 games, about 1 1/2 per game. I didn’t do all of the math, but that’s very close to the bottom of the league. Now that the PP has kind of leveled off, there just isn’t enough offense to win most games. Add in a PK that has sunk dramatically.... - StLBravesFan
How many of the 5x5 goals are Kane's? I suspect stop Kane and you stop Chicago's 5x5 scoring? |

Maybe that's it, i thought he had a good game the other night except for chasing the puck on that play but maybe you're onto something. I know part of the issue for me is watching Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, Oduya in their prime, hell even Roszival in his later years and they all could just anticipate the play so well, in a way it ruined me in my expectations of a dman, i know that much is true for me |

Remember how much everyone hated Oduya after his first two games?
TBH, blaming Murphy for trying to cover for de Haan's (frank) up would be like blaming Boqvist for the last goal for the Wings tonight because he was in the picture. Ya know, after Carpenter blasted the puck into the Wing player's leg who was so close to Carpenter he could tell everyone on the bench what the guy had for breakfast and dinner. |

The thing is I'm not blaming Murphy, yea it was a bad play by Carpenter, i just wish he was the type of dman that could anticpate better, to me he's more of a read and react type of player, don't get me wrong i appreciate his effort and like Rick says there are worse dmen getting paid more money in this league, but it goes back to i want a dmen who thinks the game better.

Well I listened to some of Rockford's game while the Blackhawks were playing. I sure can identify with Theo's report on individual players
Kalynuk is certainly an offensive dman. He generates a lot of offense. But defense is bad in Ihe AHL. It sounds too much like rat hockey or open basketball at Lifetime Health clubs
Kalynuk with Franconia is the first pair and they are on the powerplay too. They get a lot of TOI. Beaudin with Rogula unit #2. I remember reading how Rogula ws supposed to concentrate on becoming a sound shut down dman in the AHL. He is looking to engage offensively too much for that to appear realistic. On his goal tonight, he skated into the slot and shot a backhand in - a dman doing that!
Maybe I need to watch not just listen to more Icehog games....
But I want to see more Kalynuk playing defense. He is not NHL worthy right now or so it seems. Really don't know if he is trying to impress with offense.
I know that Theo will have the Rockford files but maybe after they play their second game in the back - to - back road contests. Delia had a difficult time holding onto pucks, juggling a lot. He is maybe out of sync. |

Based on what criteria? - rpeters01
Not really sure what you're questioning this time...criteria?
Boqvist was the 8th overall pick...
Beaudin was also a 1st rounder, though it was late in the round
Mitchell a 2nd rounder, and he came in with plenty of hype
All 3 have shown flashes already of what they can bring to the table, and they're all still VERY young.
Don't act like I'm silly for saying there's talent there. I didn't say they'd for sure meet expectations, but with that kinda talent there's definitely reason for optimism(that's all I was saying). |

This guy is still better than the douche canoe Preds fan that pops in every now and then. But he hasn't been around too much this season for some reason. - DarthKane
Cause the blues are in a different division for this season that upsets me |

Kyle Beach was something like the 8th pick? We don't know if any of them are good yet? So far there's Dach, and then there's Dach. And Kane. I'm not the only one on this board who thinks Kubalik is a 3rd line player on a good team. Dinky is perplexing where he would fit on a "good team." I will give you there are a lot of "real prospects there" who are still suspects. For example Boqvist is boarderline NHL at this point. Beaudin is in the AHL as we speak.

New blog! A recap of the Blackhawks first loss of the season to the Red Wings as Subban gave up 5 but got little help defensively.
Plus, a recap of the IceHogs being doubled up by the Monsters as Delia gave up 6 in his return to the AHL.

I think he’s been involved with 8+10=18 of the 34.
The only thing he hasn’t been able to do is get one in the shoot out - he’s 0-3. |
