I don't think Murphy gets you a 1st but that is where any package has to start in order for me to move him.

i sure hope you weren't considering Carpenter a reliable PK FWD cause he isn't, imo. His lack of puck skills, failed clears and shooting the puck into players a foot from him, plus he is slow to read the play makes him a mediocre PK'er.

- Elbows15

Thanks Elbows! I've thinking for a long time just because a guy (not only Carpenter but in general) kills penalties doesn't mean he's good at it! We aren't talking Toews and Hossa here.

JFC, if Colliton were taking notes he wouldn’t know what to do game to game. If he followed a certain few posters for advice he’d need psychiatric care because the opinion changes not based on ten game segments, not based on game to game play, or period to period not even shift by shift but on each individual play!
- paulr

We agreed before the first game "one shift" is what the player gets to decide if he's any good...

Hawks now 8-2 in last 10, tied w/Edm for best in the league. Can't believe I actually just wrote that - who would have thought they would show such remarkable consistency with so many key players out/getting hurt?

By Pts per game, they've moved up to 12th best team. There is one show stopper lurking here though - 3 of the top 7 teams in the league (by pts/game) are in the Hawks division.

It really is kinda stunning. Starting to look like the kids may have a shot at some valuable playoff experience. Never would've thought that, especially without Toews and Dach.

You know who is good on the PK? Soderberg and its become contagious with how he sells out to block a shot. Their recent struggles, every team has those moments, aside, Hagel and Janmark will block a shot too.

Noticed Kurashev got a little PK time at the very end of the 2nd CLB PP. I think he can be good at it eventually. He has good agility. Hard on the puck. He could become sneaky dangerous shorthanded.

I'll get everyone fired up:

Can you imagine if Colliton would have figured out to play Hagel in the Playoffs instead of Quenneville? What a goofball that guy is.

It would be nothing short of INCREDIBLE for this team to make the playoffs given all the injuries. And if they do, chances are Dach might have enough time to recover by then so he can be a part of the run. We aren't winning the Cup, but we can win a series(like we did last year), perhaps even 2.

Next season keep the trend going of year-to-year improvement. And then by 2022-23 there's a legit chance for this team to contend for a championship in what will probably be Kaner's last push as an elite/all-star caliber player.

It's all dictated by how fast Dach actually heals, but for my money, I actually hope that he is out until next year. I just want to see what this group of youngsters can accomplish.

Yup...CLEARLY we would have advanced to the conference finals if not for that boneheaded move by JC...

No but seriously...Hagel is like 80 thousand times better than Quenneville lol...it certainly wouldn't have hurt if that switch was made. But either way Vegas was gonna make us their female dog.

If he's 100% healthy and ready to go you wouldn't want him being part of this group of youngsters in a playoff appearance? Why not?!? Or am i misunderstanding what you're saying?

You don't have convince me. I am huge fan of Kampf's. Especially now that is where he should be slotted.

Keep in mind I don't believe metrics are be-all and end-all but some flavor for evaluations.

CF% 51.7
O-zone % 25.2

CorRel% 6.1

Those numbers are terrific for his role. Yeah, we all would love to see more points from him but he is doing his job and them some.

THAT is the key. You nailed it right there.

At times in recent years we've been forced to have him as our 3C, and i believe there were even a few rare occasions when he was 2C. Also times when he was on the wing.

There's only one PROPER place for him on a contending roster, and that's 4C. He's the perfect type of player for that role.

Future
L4: Kampf, Soderlund, Entwhistle
L3: Toews (?), Hagel, Barret/Altybarmaken
L2: Kurashev, Suter, Kubalik
L1: Dach, Kane, DeBrincat

Feel free to edit. Omit Janmark until after trade deadline makes his status become relevant. Assume Carpenter, Walmark gone Shaw won't play again. Highmore could be in mix L4. Disappointed in some ways with him. Re Johnson IMHO is a valuable depth extra.

Only L4 would not alter although Entwhistle may be L3 capable one day

The other lines may not mesh right but are representative where players deserve to slot. Kurashev and Toews are difficult to figure their slot

And I realize both Barret & Alty may not be ready to start next season. Both would fit very well though eventually on L3. I value Barret particularly in this group as a mouthpiece to get under the skin of the opponent . We just add to the quotient to be very hard to play against.

Theo knows better if Slaggert Slavin and Morrison are in the wings. Keep an eye on Nordgren. Undisclosed should the #1 2021 be a forward. But perhaps a sly move would be to snag a goaltender. Therefore providing two very good prospects in net.

Personally I want a center but I do not see a sure fire top line available in 2021 where we draft. The style dman we could best appreciate may not fall to us either. So the adage to draft best player available holds true. I will add, Reichel not ready yet.

I'd like to see Subban start against the Wings next game. Both tenders have been really good. Nice having both going down the stretch. Nothing wrong with sharing time more frequently

I have big concerns about coming back to soon from broken bones. I've seen too many people think they were "ready" after healing from such injuries only to re-injure.

Let it heal, and let him fully regain the strength, flexibility, and dexterity of that wrist.

And that is despite starting the season with 4 straight loses (1 point of a possible 8!).
Since that time, I would wager we are top 5...if not top 3 in the entire league!!!
