You're missing Jake. I'm fine with experimenting with NoPa on the wing while dealing with all these guys being out, and I like the idea of playing him with Couts to try to get him going. But once (if...) everyone is healthy, playing him at wing is not a luxury this roster has. There are too many other wingers that have earned those top 9 spots.
I like Bunnaman, but he's the only guy that I can realistically see coming out of the lineup once everyone is back. And with that said, that means Laughton & NoPa battle it out for 3C/4C. Problem is, I don't think either of those guys are 4Cs. Playing between NAK & Raffl isn't a terrible situation. I just worry that the amount of minutes they'd be getting as the "4th line" wouldn't be enough for either player. Then again, we know AV likes to roll all 4 when they're healthy & playing well, so there's that

- Big_E_88

Oh Crap, you're right! I would put Jake on the 3rd line and sit Lindblom.

I personally didn't think Patrick had a great game. I saw too many instances where he looked shy with the puck. He doesn't seem to want it on his stick. I did like what I saw from Ghost. He had 6 shots on goal (Patrick had none) and scored on that play that it first looked like Patrick scored. Ghost seems to be confident and it shows in how he's playing. I see a lack of confidence in Patrick, and I can't put my finger on the reason for his inconsistent offensive play. He is clearly a very talented player, and has great hands and vision. He plays well on the boards and can hold onto the puck when he has it, but he's been playing a very conservative game. His slow offensive development reminds me of Coots early career. The big difference is that Coots was regularly playing the other teams top lines. I really like Patrick and hope he gets the confidence he needs soon. With his talent, he should be able to chip in some solid points. Right now Patrick only has 5-points and is -4 in plus-minus. I hope as the season progresses, he gains some belief in himself, and that this all comes down to him being out all of last season. I know he was inconsistent in his early career, but that's not out of the norm for young talent acclimating themselves to the NHL.

Agree with most all of what you said but I think last night was step in the right direction for Patrick, keep in mind being on a line with G and Hayes is great but both are possession players, it is only natural that Patrick wouldn't seem to have the puck much.

How many shots did his line have? You don’t always have to be the one shooting
- ClaudeFather

Hayes and G combined for 11 shot attempts between the two of them and 8 scoring chances. Most were great individual plays or quick passing sequences... not so much a byproduct of NP digging a lot of pucks and winning battles for them.

Patrick had one individual shot attempt on net at ES. Considering the amount of ice he got, the guys he was playing with and how much that line had the puck... that was surprising.

Not sure I'd advise anyone to "date" a hooker. And aren't big & tall redundant? Unless of course big isn't referring to height, in which case noooooo thank you.

On second thought, yes please.

Most of the bottom portion of the Philadelphia lineup struggled.
- bmeltzer

Twarynski/Andreoff/Morin line got absolutely buckled every time they hit the ice. And that boarding penalty... yikes.

That is to be expected when they are not NHL caliber players. Twarynski gets a little pass as hasn't played in a while.

That’s where it gets a little tricky, I feel like we are going to lose a decent player regardless of how it turns out. If we trade Patrick for a pick we still lose another decent player. If we trade him for another player , we then have to protect him and still lose a decent guy. We are in almost a no win situation
- ClaudeFather

They could trade him for a younger player who doesn't need to be protected (somebody like Farabee).

That line had some really dominant shifts, Patrick was certainly involved and just looked more comfortable

No doubt and in playing with a couple of players who have the puck a lot, he did the right thing. He got himself to the net. He was getting to the greasy areas. It was noticeable improvement in his play. He was engaged.

Its good to get a win, but my goodness you can see why the Flyers need a defenseman like Ekholm. All 3 of Krieder's goals came from a few feet away from Elliott and no one was covering him. The Flyers D coverage around the slot area has been atrocious the entire season, and even when they are there, they are easily bullied off the puck or space. Myers, Sanheim and Haag have size, but they don't have strength and its killing the Flyers right now.

Good news is Giroux with 8 shots, Hayes and JVR with 6 shots each. That is what we need from these guys every night. And great pass by Farabee on that 3rd goal, the Rangers D over played the strong side allowing JVR to be wide open, and Farabee found him.

- jd250
Agree that another top 2 D would help but the forwards need to come back to help. Getting the Covid crew back on the ice will be great. Expansion draft puts another trade impediment. If they trade for Ekholm it expose another player

Nothing personal against them but I look forward to the day when they're all back in the AHL developing.

The GM didn't draft these guys so his attachment to them isn't as strong imo.

I wonder what the spark was to get him going? Was it that he felt more comfortable at wing or simply the change signalled to him to put more effort forward.
- Hextall271

I know that AV said publicly what we have all been saying in here, that he needs to start to assert himself and get involved more rather than being a perimeter player. I get that he may be a bit gun shy with being out for so long. But its time to start moving forward.

Probably going to be extremely difficult to do that, all the GMs know the situation at hand. You’d have to have a team that is guaranteed to lose a nobody to add a player they have to protect and give up one they don’t

It's probably a forgone conclusion that Seattle takes a dman from us anyway.

I’ll tell you what, if they don’t protect Voracek they better pray Seattle takes him because he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would take that lightly

Most likely Ghost. That seems to be the general consensus from most of the prognosticators.
