It will if it continues lead to opportunities offensively. You missed it and didn't see it in his play. I would not give Patrick first line minutes.

When Farabee finishes a season with either 30+ goals or is close to a point a game player, I will be happy to report that I was right about him all along!

If that was actually true, you would recognize what Patrick did last night was an improvement in his play that if it continues will help him produce offensively. BTW, I watched Farabee at his one season at BU and saw him grow in that first season, and finish that season leading the team in points. Thus I knew he certainly had potential to be a great pick for the Flyers, and now in his second year he is showing it, and I am really happy to see it. Again, I never, ever stated that I was not a Farabee fan or that he would not turn into a great player, I simply stated I wanted to see more. So far he is playing great for the Flyers and a bright spot to this season. I wish our number 2 pick overall could play like him!

If he uses last night's effort as a spring to continue improving, I would think they would resign him. I think protecting him in the ED is a stretch at this point. I am all for the Flyers using draft equity to steer the Kraken in a direction for whom they pick. If they feel that is necessary.

If you get to a point where you don't think you're going to protect him, you should look to trade him rather than lose him for nothing.

Few thoughts

We didn’t play for two weeks and the games spread out since we’ve returned is driving me crazy.

We were clearly the better team last night but I’d like to see us cut down on penalties or at least improve on the PK because Woff.

As for JvR....

Get him off the third line...check!
Play him with talent...check!
Get him top power play minutes...check!

None of which was happening in the playoffs last summer. If JvR saw this opportunity, we probably go further in the playoffs. Even if he was t bringing his best, his regular season ended with a leg injury.

If you get to a point where you don't think you're going to protect him, you should look to trade him rather than lose him for nothing.

That’s where it gets a little tricky, I feel like we are going to lose a decent player regardless of how it turns out. If we trade Patrick for a pick we still lose another decent player. If we trade him for another player , we then have to protect him and still lose a decent guy. We are in almost a no win situation

You're missing Jake. I'm fine with experimenting with NoPa on the wing while dealing with all these guys being out, and I like the idea of playing him with Couts to try to get him going. But once (if...) everyone is healthy, playing him at wing is not a luxury this roster has. There are too many other wingers that have earned those top 9 spots.
I like Bunnaman, but he's the only guy that I can realistically see coming out of the lineup once everyone is back. And with that said, that means Laughton & NoPa battle it out for 3C/4C. Problem is, I don't think either of those guys are 4Cs. Playing between NAK & Raffl isn't a terrible situation. I just worry that the amount of minutes they'd be getting as the "4th line" wouldn't be enough for either player. Then again, we know AV likes to roll all 4 when they're healthy & playing well, so there's that

I personally didn't think Patrick had a great game. I saw too many instances where he looked shy with the puck. He doesn't seem to want it on his stick.

I disagree. I thought he looked a lot more aggressive and into the game last night.

But he also had numerous shot attempts and was around the net often, as well as up on his skates and winning board battles. He was noticeable and was imposing himself on the game more than I have seen him recently.

I wonder what the spark was to get him going? Was it that he felt more comfortable at wing or simply the change signalled to him to put more effort forward.
