Does this apply to Marky as well? Or it only applies to some players or some injuries? - RealityChecker

Their first 1st overall pick was twelve drafts ago this spring, I’m talking current. People still hung up on them drafting first overall twelve drafts ago need to move on - Pacificgem
Like Bennings trading 7 years ago?

Green's interview today tells me he knows his days are numbered. - VanHockeyGuy
If they continue to lose it’s a forgone conclusion. It’s easier to change the coach than trade all 23 players. |

Both Hawryluk & Hamonic are now listed on #Canucks active roster. Eriksson is not, so back to taxi. |

- VANTEL
I’m talking about drafting, drafting, again nice deflection. Simply saying they did well to add five defencemen in eight drafts while also adding top end forwards. Maybe Chiarelli was a better drafter than I thought.
Nurse - 7th overall 2013
William Lagesson - 4th round 2014
Caleb Jones - 4th round 2015
Ethan Bear - 5th round 2015
Evan Bouchard - 10th overall 2018
Plus Philip Broberg 8th overall in 2019 yet to make it.
Conversely the Canucks have only added Quinn Hughes and Olli Juolevi while adding a bunch of top forwards. From the draft.
Edit: if Woo and Rathbone can make the jump to the NHL it looks much better for us though. |

ummm Boeser was a calder nominee, finished 2nd, and was an all star and all star MVP if i recall... doesn't he count as a star? - MisterBrown
It was in response to a post regarding top 10 picks. Boeser is definitely a star player, but as he was 23OA he wasn't part of the discussion. |

So you admire Edmonton, MTL, TO, PHILLY, AZ? Any teams I’m missing? Basically any team other than Van? |

I admire good drafting regardless of what team it is |

First of all you are cherry picking numbers there have been four different GMs in the years that you listed . McTavish Ciarelli Keith Gretzky and Holland . I would even remove Gretz and that is still three .
Next of the list of Dmen that you named there is so far only one that has proven value . Baer is a 5/6 guy and Buchard and Broeberg yet to be proven. They may be good in years but so far are just potentials .

I think Boeser is a good player, I am not sure he is a star.

“The Oilers drafting has been better than I thought” is cherry-picking numbers?
I picked the past eight drafts because it takes around four years for a later round pick to establish himself as a defencemen. I didn’t pick eight drafts because I thought Chiarelli was the GM that entire time. Although I did reference his name. |

The Oilers in the last decade and a year have had four firsts, a third ,a fourth, a seventh , and an eighth . Oilers have only hit on one draft pick in the second round since 2011(Klefbom). That is not good drafting . |

I sort of feel sorry for the Sabers situation.
Skinners agent has called the GM and asked what gives? GM probably told him your player stinks. Agent would probably say can you trade him? GM responds no one wants him.

The Oilers in the last decade and a year have had four firsts, a third ,a fourth, a seventh , and an eighth . Add that to all the high second round picks they have had . The teams from eight years ago still had the benefit of a Taylor Hall and RNH. Oilers have only hit on one draft pick in the second round since 2011(Klefbom). That is not good drafting . - VANTEL
The past eight years would disagree with your assessment. It’s been very similar to ours, 1728 games played for their franchise via the draft vs 1630 games played for our franchise via the draft. |

Why buy out, when you can just use LTIR and not buy out? |

Anyone remember when the Coyotes were praised for all the amazing prospects they had in their pool?
Wonder what happened to that phenomenal group. |

I don’t ever remember them having a great prospect pool. They’ve drafted top five like twice in the past 20 years. |

It’s crazy bad there but they could do a good reset by trading Eichel I’m guessing. |
