and i know that we have memories like goldfish but aside from the playoff thingy, the last 60 games haven't been particularly great. - RealityChecker
MTL made a move because the team wasn't meeting expectations. VAN's record is WAY worse.
My question is when do you stop playing the Covid-19 and schedule card?

2-10 in Feb? - VanHockeyGuy
Probably should have won five of those games. I am not a fan of the coaching .I think the style they play makes them a fun team to play .
I don't know what message Aquilini gave them but I am enjoying watching the games and it looks like we will be getting a high draft pick . |

it's "groundhog year."
every year is a brand new start. so it's not 7 years and counting, it's 1 year since covid.
next year will be 1 year since flat cap.
there's always excuses to be played every year. - RealityChecker
But these things only affects the Canucks. |

You have said it yourself many times. The issue is not the bottom 6 or the D this year.
You named Pettersson Pouty and I will go on a limb and guess it is not because you are happy with his play.
Most of the screw up on D have been Hughes related as of late. Most giveaways are JTM. The fly by stick out the stick JTM.
Canucks in the last seven games have controlled the play they haven't finished it out though. I do believe they have amateur coaching but the rest can be easily fixed. - VANTEL
The point i was trying to make, is that the finger pointing shouldn't be just at the bottom 6, as some of them have been playing decent, such as Motte and Sutter and they have been contributing nicely.
The top 6 haven't been very consistent at providing offense on a game to game basis, which is a problem that is expected with a young core. |

van is the only team that has had to deal with covid and a bad schedule.
the results from this season don't really matter due to covid, schedule etc. the results from the playoff thingy matter though. |

If that's the plan fine. The lip service from the players and coach is getting a bit stale.

That is a strange comment from someone that actually had the virus and knows the first hand effects.
Like it or not it changes the schedule , trading , spending ,travel ,life styles . I haven't heard myself Lord H Booner or anyone on team pompom blame this season on Covid. Sweeping it under the carpet like it doesn't have an effect on thingys is ?

The only coach that doesn't give lip service and BS is Torts. That is why we love him.

The top 6 have been very disappointing and yet are still very close to a PPG.

When you get all the powerplay time and over 20 minutes a game, they better have amassed a bunch of points. |

So Benning has built a good core and we need patience because they are still growing?
This will not sit well with the fire Benning group.
- VANTEL
No, not my point at all. My point is they’re young players and there’s plenty of time to build around them properly. You don’t need to win the championship in their first three years, although that would be nice, it’s just not realistic. |

I have to admit it is a bit of a strange thing to say that they are a young talented group and have a lot of time to add but fire the guy who brought you this young core.

A few of the stupider posters would be happy to move him for cap space. He was our best player last year and is now worthless lol |

strange how? strange like thinking that the guy who screwed up the cap by overpaying bottom 6ers is the guy to fix the cap and the bottom 6 now that the mistake contracts are expiring? |

I haven't seen anyone say that Miller is useless. Nice use of hyperbole, however. |

Ryan Suzuki is a six foot smooth/quick skating left shot center or winger, the younger brother of Nick Suzuki in Montreal. He's not physical but he's talented.
Cade Webber is a young 6'7" stay at home defenceman, something this team sorely needs. - Pacificgem

I don't think he is approaching it any differently than what most are trying to say.
This team doesn't have the quality nor the depth to be contending, so use a older valuable asset to try help fix some of that with younger players that will be filling in several holes when the team is ready to contend.
I think many fans got mislead during last seasons play-in thingy and think this team is oh so close. - Reubenkincade
I guess I take more issue with the specific notion of trading Miller. He's not old, he's about to be 28. You can't ice an entire team of players under 25, and as far as vets go on the team Miller is one of the only ones who is actually a quality player. |
