they are very weak at center still, Danault is struggling, Suzuki and KK are very inexperienced and have unrealistic expectations to drive offense while being very reliable defensively. Evans is a rookie at the NHL level also but lower expectations.
For me they are still in transition but with the additions of last fall, Sr Mgmt thought it was time to compete while the reality is different based on their strength in the middle.
And the defense is not that mobile either in the top 4 except for Petry which leads to a gap between the forwards and the D and other teams take advantage of that now, the playbook on the Habs is well known now. - Symba007
I think it has more to do with other teams adapting to what the Habs were doing, than the Habs (as MB and CJ put it) being able to play any style of hockey and countering the other team's adjustments (especially, in game). |

Chantal Machabée just said on 91.9 that it was Ducharme who suggested the Habs play a more offensive and open system earlier this season. Seems Julien was not a fan - stinger67
No surprises there.

The worst part of it. The eventual replacement has to be bilingual. That rules out 90-95% of all other great coaches. |

I think it has to do with all the bad calls coming out of the war room in Toronto. Yah. That’s it! |

If you win / loss depends on war room calls, then your team is not playing well at all. |

I agree with the coaching change. But IMO Gallant should have been named the coach. He was excellent as an assistant here(handled the PP I might add when it was actually effective) and very good as a head coach. He never should have been canned in Florida or Vegas. |

Now they need to upgrade that D.
Coaching/style is terrible as we speak. Seeing them all over the ice.
But Having Chiarot on the top line? Meh! |

According to a source just now:. The Rangers have serious interest in Claude Julien and if he is OK with it, his health concerns are OK, expect this to escalate....on Julien’s timeline.

The Seattle job is more appealing then coaching the Canadiens? Yikes 😳 |

overblown expectations by Sr management, they are not as good as their early record showed. Easier to change coaching staff then face reality IMO - Symba007
Maybe change the goalie coach? |

Considering the poop show that comes with it after naming a coach who doesn't speak french?
Probably.
For the record, I'd love Gallant as a coach for Montreal. But I think Ducharme will do great.

given the draft rules and the expectations/pressure of the job... yes Seattle is far more appealing than Montreal. |
