Ducharme was a pretty damn good head coach in juniors. Won the memorial cup, silver and gold at World juniors.

Unless you wanna recycle an old NHL coach he has pedigree no other young coach can match.

i did wonder if them coming back and making that more of a game might put making a change off a bit if they were contemplating it. but i guess they figured they know they have to do it anyway, may as well try to get things turned around sooner rather than later.

they fell behind 3-1 and were getting caved in by one of the league's true doormats, a 2 nights after having lost to them in a poopty performance. that right then and there told us everything we needed to know. that they got their Richards up for a few shifts didn't change anything. they barely showed up for these 2 games.

i don't know if this move helps at all but Julien's tenure has been marked by solid 10-game stretches followed by prolonged episodes in the tank. they could never just lose a game or two. it always had to be these weeks-long suicide marches where every aspect of their game went into the toilet. it was constantly the case with the exception of the first half of the 18-19 season.

I'll say this, I *do* wish they did this BEFORE the week off. Now there's a new coach with 2 days to prep. Far from ideal.
