Someone, just yesterday mentioned that Julian's style would get him canned.
Also, I wonder how much money Bergeron has cost Molson in fired coaches.

They couldn't even get his tenure timeline right.... - Habsolute009

I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the shot storm in MTL. Condensed schedule with little to no time to practice in the next 2.5 months will not allow Ducharme to implement the changes he might want to do. Small tweaking is more realistic...and might not be sufficient.
I say they finish 5th in the North and Bergy is gone this summer. - Symba007
Players already know his system. That's what got them winning games at the beginning of the season |

I have high hopes for Ducharme, the best available candidate, all languages considered |

I wasn't a big Claude fan from the beginning(going back to his first tenure), but that is terrible by the Canadiens PR team. |

Well this is just idiotic. People wonder why free agents don't want to come to Montreal and they wonder why the vast majority of no trade clauses list Montreal. It's stupidity like this - Takemedrunkimhome
I don't think learning another language is idiotic but it is a personal belief... You are free to think what you want...
Most european players learn the language where they play... As an example, many soccer players that are coming to play in Montreal learn French...
It seems not as important for hockey players...

So Habs would've won a cup with an Anglo coach in the last 25 years?

I do not have much of an opinion on him, other than I am glad it is not some re-tread coach (or another old Habs coach) in charge.
Will let the team play make that decision for me. |

I understand that for some people, the french requirement is important, i understand their logic but I just don’t like the way it gives them less options to chose from. Sure, if the best man for the job speaks french by all means hire him, but if he doesnt? Take him in any case.
How annoying would it be if the Habs only draft players from Qc? Oh Caufield is still available at 15! Yeah can’t pick him he’s American and doesnt speak french.
The goal is to win and to do that, you should hire the best personnel available from top to bottom. |

If it was someone in house, I'm glad it was him. I was hoping it would not be Captain Kirk. He had been in charge of the PP pretty much since he's been here. What a mess. |

A hockey player's job is to play hockey, not to learn a local language to appease some media and locals with an agenda. Weber was traded to the Habs, didn't ask to come here, didn't sign here of his own free will. You're now complaining that he doesn't want to "suffer" and learn the language. If you don't see how this is part of the problem I can only walk you to the water I can't make you drink |

no, the reasoning that had been brought up for being against the debate was dumb, but yeah perhaps it's not a bad idea to avoid the subject here after all

Pretty much a spotless junior coaching carreer with a memorial cup win, won gold at the world juniors with team Canada then was hired by the habs. |

For now, definitely. Especially since in a pandemic hiring someone from outside would have meant a 14 day quarantine. He’s got a great record as a head coach in junior but hasnt done it in the nhl so far. This interim period gives him a chance to prove he can do it in the big league and if he can and delivers, i’ll be glad if they give him the job for good. |
