Yep. I said that to my dad. The sun was in Rask's eyes for the first 15 minutes. They should've thrown everything at him.

Rask wasn't truly on his game all night, either. Did make two tough saves and the Flyers got some bounces. But he never seemed locked in either. Unfortunately, the Flyers put just 19 shots on net (with three going in).

Maybe they tried, after all they only had 8 shots on goal after the first period. How pathetic is that?

You touched on one of the biggest problems I think this Flyers group of forwards have; they have very little shoot-first forwards. I believe there are three types of forward mentalities: shoot first, pass first and cycle first. Players like Raffl, Laughton and NAK are cycle first forwards who will cycle for an entire shift expending loads of energy flipping pucks along the boards, back and forth, but rarely ever get a shot on goal. Then there are players like Voracek, Hayes, Giroux, Patrick and JVR that are pass first players, always looking to make that pretty play or set someone else up instead of shooting the puck. Farabee is becoming more of a shoot first player as he gains confidence, but besides him there is really isn't another Flyers forward that thinks this way. This is a real problem for this team to overcome. It seemed obvious to everyone watching that the Flyers had a huge advantage with the sun setting in Rask's face, that is, obvious to everyone except the Flyers players.

Maybe they could have just passed it really hard at the net. I would have taken that..

I think not being able to set foot on the ice until warmups really hurt the goalies, but we couldn't take advantage.

This would not be a question for me. Watch it.

It like walking though a suspicious looking door without knowing what is on the other side for me. Maybe he is a suitable goalie personality, but it is more doubtful that I am a suitable goalie parent.

I agree - I'm sure the conditions messed with him just as much as they seemed to with Hart.

What really confuses me is that AV coaching/gameplan style seems to be to shoot as often as possible. They shot a LOT last season.

Im sure its part of his meetings/agendas.

Does he have to start threatening players to shoot more and stop passing up shots because the shooting grass is greener somewhere else?

From what I see, they pass up a hell of a lot of shots.

I think I heard or read somewhere that their shots per game is down from last year. I may be misremembering though.

Last year they finished middle of the pack (16th) with 31.4 spg.

This year they are dead last at 23.3.

And that is more than 3 shots off the next to last team. (Anahiem 26.4)

It is a startling statistic.

Yup. Especially considering they're also awful at limiting shots against.

Its funny that early this season when asked how to describe this team, Kevin Hayes responded "A fast team that plays the right way defensively". Hmmm ... I mean, they are not even close to any of this!

Key is to ensure he has fun. If he loves it he'll stick with it and do well.

My little guy is 2.5 and he loves shooting the puck and ball. Had him on outdoor lake a couple times last week on skates and to my amazement, he was able to stand a bit without falling. I think he likes the chaos of the game ahah

All of my boys quit playing baseball once they started playing hockey because they said baseball was too boring. And that was when I ran the dang baseball organization. At least it got me out of that gig.

Just another guy to score against us every time we play them. Under/Over for goals Friedman gets against us this season? Has to be at least 2...

They knew Morin would clear so they made Friedman walk the plank. Let's see what Fletch brings in.
