At full strength the Flyers are the second best team in the division. They are 5-0 against the Pens-Isles-Caps with a +11 goal differential. Only one of those games saw Coots play a full game.
- mickel25

those other teams 100% with their full lineup? I wont be shocked either way if they make or don't make the playoffs.

Disagree. Power that be want major progress imo.

What kind of comment is this? First off , how in the world would you know what they want? Everyone wants progress, but Fletch is certainly playing with house money. If they missed the playoffs I highly doubt he would be shown the door. Making a hasty decision after a shortened , odd, season would be idiotic.

Yes. As I mentioned, we have games in hand. Take the Bruins games out, and we're actually quite good haha 0-3-2 not going to get it done, and they have to figure out a way to compete obviously or they'll be gone in round two. Habs and Leafs must be laughing at their fortune of being able to avoid playing Tampa and Boston at all this year.. What a windfall.
- Hextall271

True, but Montreal or Toronto will have to play these teams eventually to vie for a cup, so I actually think it hurts them to not face the Bruins or Tampa before then.

well that is obvious, what they want and what they can do is a completely different story, they will consider Covid, flat cap and expansion just like every other team.

I am pretty sure the Isles and Pens were full strength when the Flyers played them.

I would be shocked if they miss the playoffs. They are basically down a top 4 D from last year. They have better offensive depth this year compared to last. I don't think Niskanen was the difference of making the playoffs or not.

It might. They'll also theoretically be less beaten up than say the team that gets out of our div as they most likely won't have strong opponents until the second round. If you asked the Leafs who technically didn't make the playoffs last year if they'd take a semi final spot in this scenario but have to play Boston, I think they'd be happy.

What kind of comment is that? It is called an opinion. My opinion is he will have orders to make sure they make the playoffs. Never said or even insinuated he would be fired.

We shall see. I cant imagine them standing by if they start to falter and management not voicing their opinion.

The GM seemed to praise Freidman numerous times. Yet he is now being waived. Is there a disconnect between the coach and GM when it comes to Freidman?

I do not think they gave Friedman a long enough look. Could have been a solid bottom pair cheap option. How you cant get a longer look while Hagg continues to suck is beyond me. Only positive is Hagg get the least minutes of the 6. So maybe the coach is somewhat wising up. When Braun comes back Hagg to the bench is the smart move.

Fletcher does not come across to me as a GM that makes hasty trades out of panic. With that said the games against Boston are concerning because the Flyers will have to most likely go through Boston to come out of the division and have a chance to win the cup. Right now the Flyers are not good enough, but I think they are closer than it may appear. The Flyers have yet to play the Bruins with their full lineup, and I still believe they can play with Boston at least 5 on 5. Where the Flyers are falling down against Boston is they are taking too many penalties and their PK is not good enough. Hart has also not been good against the Bruins.
- jd250

Are you talking about Chuck Fletcher? His biggest trades with the wild were hasty and generally did not improve the team

Toronto is going to fold like a house of cards once they play someone outside their division

no, they haven't played anyone that was full strength. they obviously wouldn't have won otherwise, they stink.

Like the move of Patrick to LW. Feel like that will get him off the perimeter and put him closer to net-front, where he's always been the most effective.

It would be a disappointment if they dont make the playoffs. I know that means one of the Caps, Pens, or Islanders miss but there is no excuse when fully healthy they shouldn't be one of the top 4 in the East.

I think they will make a move but keep in mind over the summer they could make a move and look at what they did. I am on record yesterday saying there is a scenario where I would trade for Ekholm, so them making a move wouldn't surprise me and as long as the price is only a slight overpay I won't be disappointed. If Ekholm is the first piece to making this a win now squad and you will take the next step in the off-season go for it.

I don't want to blow it up to win now, nor has Chuck showed he will but teams like Pitt and the Caps have stayed in contender status and they have been blowing it up on the regualr.

100%. Going from a win away from the conference finals to missing the playoffs entirely would be a disappointment. I think they're better than every team in this division besides the Bruins and maybe the Capitals.

My own opinion is just ride this season out unless there is a deal that is too good to pass up. Then come summer time you go have to 100% imo take that next step to become a legit contender. The thing is will upper management want to wait; yet again?

If someone wants to overpay for the Flyers free agents I would move them as well. Team always want depth on D; braun and hagg I look to move as well.

He needs a spark, what he’s been doing has not been working. Get him with some better guys and focus on the offense a little more. Also I’m glad to see Bunnaman get rewarded for his hard work.

Didn't some posters here want to try to sign Skinner? 9M cap hit with a point in 14 games.
