A good list to choose from, I wonder how tight Andersen and Matthews are and if that will come into play. - Garnie
Obviously they're pretty close - but hockey is a business. If Andersen would do less than $5m (which I doubt), then I think he could stay. Looking at that list . . .I don't know. I love Pekka Rinne 4 years ago. Even if St. Louis lets Binnington go, it's because he wants far more than $5m. I think Boston resigns Rask, but even then he'll be more than we'd want to spend.
If Campbell comes back from injury and plays well for the remainder of the year, then the idea of a platoon with him isn't out of the question, but I'm not sure we're ultimately improving our goaltending situation if we had a Campbell / Grubauer platoon, for example (and realistically, Grubauer probably cashes in a bit here and stays with the Avs, especially if he plays more than 40 games and keeps his save percentage over .925). |

Sounds like leg injuries. In surgery now. LA fire department listed him as moderate to critical. |

The only reasonable option seems to be one of the Coyotes. I can’t see anyone else we would want being available |

If we don't re-sign Andersen, (I think we don't, if we have another short playoff run) then I would target Grubauer if he became available

Out of the options, I'm similarly a fan of the guys who are just in their prime - Grubauer, Mrazek, Binnington, Ullmark - but they're not better than Andersen, with the possible exception of Grubauer (and here he has a pretty good team in front of him, too). I'll admit that I have liked Raanta, but he's awfully injury prone, and not having a good year. |

When I was told the Leafs has finally replaced Tavares at 2C, I presumed Leafs management finally acknowledged his decline. As his skating has become labored and slow it was obvious he could not keep up with his linemates. Such decline is to be expected with age, but I believe it came a year or two before Leafs management expected. However, I was shocked to discover instead of being demoted, he was shifted to the top line, foisted upon Marner and Matthews. Doing so did not help any of the Leafs, instead it provided advantage to Calgary.
The combination of Tavares' decline, his expensive contract and his NMC will make this contract problematic in short order. Perhaps the Leafs may find a way to transfer him (and his contract) to Robidas Island. Otherwise they will soon need to find a creative way to recover his cap hit for use on a competent 2C. |

We appreciate your concern for the guy who is currently mired in a slump, yet still sits 28th in the league in scoring.
It's great to see you back here in the Leafs thread. We haven't seen you all that much lately, but of course that has nothing to do with the fact that the Leafs have only lost 4 times in regulation.

Dude, the goal made it 1-0, with 54 minutes left in the game.
The Leafs are one of the highest scoring teams in the league.
If you're going to troll, at least put some effort into it.
Thanks - Atomic Wedgie
Who is trolling? If you believe that team has the same faith in Huck as they have in Andersen, to recover after letting in a soft goal, then you’re delusional. I don't even think Andersen is that great of goalie, but he has shown he can recover from a weak goal many times. The team looked off the entire game, and I mentioned it earlier, sometimes teams just don't have it and things just don't go right. Matthews was whiffing on shots all night, and the PP just didn't seem right. Maybe it had nothing do to with Hutch in net, or maybe, just maybe they are gripping their sticks a little tight because they believe after the first goal, that they may have to score 5 goals to win with him in net.
Am I saying the lost was on him? No, the game was 100% winnable. The got shut out on night that they had 7 PP with one being a 3 on 5 for over a minute. Obviously the goalie isn't the reason they lost. But to say someone is trolling because they mention the team has more faith in Andersen then in Hutch is laughable.

They're goalies.. I doubt they face the wrath of Torts for not playing his style. They have one job, stopping pucks. And they dont do that as well as Freddy. |

One option is to trade the whole CBJ team here for you to cheer for. I can’t think of any other way for you to cheer for all those players? |
