Waaaaaay off topic, but have any of you frankers ever franked around on Ancestry.ca?

I've been telling my brothers I'd take care of it for years, but ended up biting the bullet last night at around 8 pm.

By 11 pm (when I forced myself to shut it off), I had 244 people listed.

I found my 12th great-grandmother - born about 1598.

It's crazy easy - and it's not like we come from aristocracy.

It's pretty cool. I found out my Scottish ancestors were horse traders and horse thieves. đź‘Ť

I tried. I got back to my great grandfather arriving in Kitchener in 1914 or something like that, but couldn't get any further back - I didn't really have anyone who could provide more information on names or anything else.

No, and I think that's a terrible idea. If you're going to use a site to (frank) around, try tinder.

I think this is the year to go for it.

Leafs can clear a path to the conf finals at least if they dont poop the bed*.

*they will probably poop the bed

I got roasted for saying they had a reasonable path to the League semis but there’s nobody right now in the Division that are favoured over them. Every time they do something that worries me they bounce back with a solid performance.

But having said all that, they still remain the Toronto (frank)ing Maple Leafs

Yeah, I figured I needed to get going - my mother is in advanced stages of Lewy Body Dementia, so she can't help. And my dad's memory is starting to go - although mostly just short-term memory.

My father in law is gone, and my mother in law has early Alzheimer's.

How long ago did you do it?

I'm really just clicking on other people's work - people who have already mapped out their family trees.

The one thing that's pretty disappointing is there's not a lot of details, other than names.

One relative was a woolen yarn winder - I'll bet she was very happy to have that job.

Another was a boot and shoe maker in Scotland.

At least forsberg wouldnt be a few month rental and thats what Dubas has looked for.

Id make that deal I think. Would also make it easier to trade Willy in the off season ..if thats what they wanted

Maybe if they are retaining major cap here.

From Mapleleafshotstove

TOR gets: LW Filip Forsberg with $2.5M retention (1.5 years, $3.5M cap hit).

NSH gets: 2021 first round pick, C Alex Kerfoot (2.5 years, $3.5M cap hit), RD Topi Niemela, RW Joey Anderson.

It was probably 5-7 years ago now that I last tried it. They had a free month or something, so I skipped in and tried it out. I put in several hours one night, and then got stuck. Came back a couple of days later and couldn't really get any further. Not conclusively at any rate -- largely because I just didn't know who anyone was. I was not close with my mother, but I did go to her memorial; I could probably talk to her brothers, but I haven't. My dad's still around and he's doing fairly well - but that side I mean, I know my great grandparents had 13 kids, but I think I met 3 of them. Ancestry did show me all of them, and I could pick out the family tree in there. Getting further back on the German side where they came from was where I hit a wall -- I was like, "Oh. There's like 9 possible Conrads. I wonder which one he was". On the Scottish side, I also didn't get further back really than my great grandparents, either.

If things have changed or become a bit easier, I could also go try again.

They have to go for it this year.

Nylander for Forsberg is sorta a lateral move in terms of production, but Forsberg would be more suitable for the playoffs.

She uses it because her dad is cringy.

I feel bad for her, but in all likelihood she lives with her Mom because you're clearly impotent.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Yeah, she moved in with me when she was 3 and has been with me ever since. I largely raised her on my own.

But making it personal is certainly a good look, again reflective of your incomprehensible maturity level. Grow up little kid, or you shouldn't be on the internet.

I found the boat records of my dad coming from New Zealand and his parents marriage certificates and his dad’s educational certificates.

On my mom’s side, my sister did the research years ago when she helped my write a book about her family which is great to have. My grandfather who was American took off to South Africa for a bunch of years. He bought a race horse and was a guide for the Brits in the Boer War. (We have a silver snuff box he received for his services but it seems way too smattering kill people).

He eventually settled on a farm outside Edmonton, sold it when someone learned they were putting the rail yards there and bought a hotel in the Peace River country in a booming town that connected to the Klondike trail. 6 months after getting there (by wagon pulled by 2 Clydesdales) the town went dead when the rail line went a different direction. They sold the hotel and bought a farm in Peace River and raised their family there.
