I wasn't there for it but I don't think it's that you can't discuss it. I think it's that for the most part we all know the issue, most think the issue is stupid but accept that the issue isn't likely to change. As such it's sorta like discussing income redistribution. Most accept that there is inequality in income distribution but there isn't a viable solution coming any time soon so why beat a dead horse unless there is new and useful information or ideas available.
As much as I'd like to think most Habs fans don't give the slightest of (frank)s about french identity, the language or the tigars people always discuss, I recall vividly during the draft all the complaining in here about not drafting Quebecois players - so clearly that matters to some.
Short story long the language poop ain't changing any time soon so it's likely people are saying the horse is clearly dead why beat it? And I say that as an Ontario based anglo Habs fan, I don't like it but I accept the language thing as something that isn't changing - Takemedrunkimhome
I disagree, I think things will eventually change, not saying any time soon but someday. now if I was "complaining" about this repetitively every single morning of course it would get tiresome, but if we're talking about the current situation and potential coach candidates then it's only natural that this is brought up.
if not, why then ever debate about who should be playing on the 4th line, who they should trade for, or anything else for that matter? the habs organization will decide, so why should we bother about discussing anything then? I don't see any difference |

I guess there's a reason I said:
*googles french coaches
*cries a bit
The reason is I know discussing non french coaches is an exercise in futility, at least at this point and the foreseeable future. I'm not saying you can't discuss it but I'm saying this is likely why people gave you pushback on it |

but wouldn't that make ALL of our discussions futile, since we have no influence whatsoever on the decision making? I think talking about potential candidates and comparing the habs' "restricted" coaching pool to what is available out there can be an interesting exercise, the same way we can talk about which player we'd like to see in a habs jersey.

You're right and I've often made that point about trade proposals however I'd say there is one slight difference, at least in my eyes: trading for Crosby is unlikely but "could" happen, signing an anglo coach who speaks no french is unlikely and with near certainty "won't" happen, at least any time soon |

I get what you're saying but I still find it's silly to get mad or be surprised if the subject is brought up. of course things might not change next year or the year after, but it won't be in 50 years either imo... besides, debates around Danault or Drouin for example represent "dead horse" subjects way more than this lolll |

I don't think people would complain if we signed a Barry Trotz, but yeah every other coach there's probably a french guy who could do the same job.

All valid points. I imagine if I keep a running tally today we'll have at least a few more pointless debates by comparison |

Is there? And should it matter?
I have to hire people, I believe you hire people too. How often are two candidates on exactly equal footing?
Edit: god damnit I entered the damn debate |

perhaps you're right, but I think this can change from one year to another, the available francophone candidates aren't always the same, so the discussion can be relevant. |

3rd times a charm...when you have less than 10 tolerable options on the planet including those currently employed elsewhere. |

would be nice if they gave the sens a real good beating, a clear-cut victory could be beneficial right now for team morale |

Our friends hosted one of them a few years back for their son and daughter in law.
I’ve done a lot of things that was a waste of my time.
That, ranks very close to the top.. |

I've been to one that had a cake. I wasn't there when it was cut but I did get a piece of cake that tasted like too much food colouring. Nobody died, so by comparison it was an unmitigated success. However yes, giant waste of time. I'd rather watch the Red Wings play the Sabres while getting a bikini wax |

What if they lose again tonight? I guess MB will lose his January GM of year award. |
