Why not? What has Frost shown you to believe he is not worth trading for a top pairing D like Ekholm? This is a perfect example of falling in love with your own players, even if they haven't done anything yet. Frost may turn out to be very good, then again he may not. However, finding a top paring D is rare compared to finding a decent center. Frost can be replaced!

Again, overrating Ekholm. He could play on a top pair with Provorov but he is far closer to a 2nd pair guy than his a 1st pair defenseman. He is not a top paring defenseman on Nashville.

If the Flyers somehow got Ekholm, they would have to protect any 8 skaters versus 3 D and 7 forwards. The Flyers could protect Ekholm, Provorov, Sanheim and Myers, TK, Couturier, Hayes & Giroux (latter two both have NM clauses). They don't have to protect Laughton because he is a FA, nor Farabee, Frost or Bunnaman because they are 1st or 2nd year players. The Flyers would then be exposing Ghost, Braun, Haag, NAK, Patrick, Jake, JVR, Lindblom, Andreoff, Friedman & Elliott. They only can lose one of these players, any of which I can live with losing.

Agree completely...I think they really wouldn't mind losing JVRs salary,. They need to protect Lindblom imo so if they trade for Ekholm Patrick would be part of the deal. If they don't make that trade then it looks like it'd come down to NAK being a Kraken. It wouldn't threaten world peace or anything, but it certainly will be a loss

Agreed! I think we only began to see Lindblom's ascent when he went down with cancer last year. It may take until next season to see him ascend again, but sheesh, he was looking awesome. Plus, his hockey IQ is exceptional which makes him valuable at 200' which is not easily replaced.
