I read this week that many Texans buy a form of electricity insurance to guard against this.

What an incredibly inefficient system.

After all this time of the Nylanderthals telling me he's one of the best players in the league on the best contract, best stats this and that, hardest competitor, makes the team better, a defensive stalwart etc etc..

Now the rats are abandoning ship acting like they never said all these things.

Honestly, whatever.. Just have a little humility when you're wrong, thats all.

should be careful with comparisons here.

I haven't lived in Ontario for twenty years... but there were essentially never wide-spread outages anything like what they just experienced in Texas - at least not that I remember. Perhaps the massive ice storm... maybe in 97, 98 - which were weather driven resulting in poles being downed and people losing power.

those weren't broad based inability to transmit or produce power issues.

Texas chose the isolate themselves from the grid outside of their state (for reasons far to far below my intellect to comprehend). And they are looking at pockets in their own state (such as El Paso) which were fine.

the bottom line for any geography... electricity is an "essential service" and as such should be treated as requiring reasonable governance, reasonably guaranteed service and reasonable pricing - not some 3rd world make it up as you go bs.

so when everyone starts talking about "taxes" in the states.. and the attitude towards those taxes... this kind of mismanagement and braindead tonedeaf "leadership" is what you get.

Texas exceptionalism is on full display at the moment - along with a lack of clean water, no reliable power and death defying desire to defend the oil industry.
you can't make this shyte up.

- BorjeFan4Ever

Ontario caps electricity rates at 8.5 cents per kilowatt hour.

Texas caps it at $9

Democrats need to explain to ‘muricans that government programs are like Walmart - the sheer size of them allows them to have incredible buying power.

‘muricans love their Walmart.

Why do the Leafs need another offensive player?

Why not a 20/30 guy who's very reliable defensively, and who plays with some jam?

It's the 7mil contract that will turn teams off.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

fortunately, the only good thing about the Nylander contract - and I do mean the ONLY good thing about it ... is that a large amount of it has been paid in bonus/up front style payments... so while the CAP hit is 6.9 or whatever, the actually cash payment is lower.

in my opinion they should be looking for a emerging Josh ANderson type to play with Tavares, assuming that Robertson can take the other wing if both JT and he get some form of "robust" line-mate. For the time being they should put Nylander on the 3rd line and let him show he can work. Hyman on JT's wing perhaps with Mikheyev on the other side.

Put Nylander and Vesey together find out if either has a pulse

I agree.

I think Engvall and Mikheyev have been building some chemistry lately, it would be nice if Vesey wasnt a bust and could play in the top 6. We need Robertson to come back and play with Tavares. Cant put Willy back there and expect any kind of success with that line.

AardTrump you need to quit spewing lies. Your need for attention is eerily similar to a rather notorious public figure. I fear your falsehoods could be a danger to all Nylanderthals. Are you seriously trying to incite a rush on those who cheer for Nylander to succeed? Next thing you know you will be asking for a recount of Freddie’s stats.

Spewing lol.. nice choice of words.

anyways.. incite a rush? wtf does that mean? They aren't cheering for him to succeed, they think he already has and they cheer for Marner, Freddy, and Rielly to fail. The Nylanderthals are pathetic. They arent real fans. The hate they put on Marner, attacking his dad and all that disgusting poop is who they are. The hate Freddy takes online is just garbage. Its always the Nylanderps doing it because they're trying to make Nylander look good by putting down the actual good players on the team.

You and the rest of my haters, 5-6 more, are just a noisy pansy-assed sewer-dwelling branch of Leafsnation who dont know poop about hockey.

I am going to guess there are plenty of fans that would like to see both Nylander and Andersen gone? But hard to see when your vision is affected by blind love for Andersen and blind hate for Nylander

It’s to avoid federal regulation.

El Paso isn’t part of the Texas system because of where it’s situated. After 2011 storm, their utility invested in state of the art upgrades, redundancies, etc. They faced a couple of hours shut down in a few places.

Im not the one who's blind.

I dont have "favourites," i just call it how i see it. I couldnt give two (frank)s about what the players look like, where they're from, or if there 5 million teenaged girls who cheer for only one player.

If you let the team down, i wont like you.

just joking/poking fun...

does that mean that El Paso is part of the Mexican northern states electric grid?

cause they must be slipping that electricity past or under the wall

yet another shining example of Texas "exceptionalism"

can't wait for Fox "News" coverage of the veteran who loses his nestegg because of the free market pricing of electricity in Texas.... I'm left wondering how they - in a state that has Republican government up and down the line-up card, will blame this on the democrats.
