The Freddy haters are idiots.

False comaprison.

Anyway, team looks great.

Nylander/Tavares will get going soon.

Ah the us, always a disappointment
Apparently texans wanted privatized hydro....well they got it.

- Fakepartofme

I mean...It obviously wasn't this extreme.

But Ontario doesn't exactly have an exemplary history of Hydro production/prices.

If we go through this every year, then shouldn't at some point people start to realize that he's not a reliable player? My knock on him wasnt his offensive abilities, its his lack of defensive awareness, and his lack of compete. It doesnt matter if he goes on a 7 game scoring streak at this point, because we know he'll cool off and cost us games at some point.

Hey, Howard Berger, stop your whining and just enjoy the ride.

Fun fact: Matthews tied the record last night by scoring the first goal in four consecutive games.

Can’t wait to play the stone cold Calgary Flames Monday.

- Atomic Wedgie

should be an interesting game... couple of now public issues in Calgary - Tkachuk opening not understanding why the fans are getting on him... "maybe just play instead trying to be a wannabee tough guy agitator"....

and the rumors of trades/trade demands.

Yep, Nylander hate-watching is an baffling obsession for some, but meanwhile the Leafs just buried the Habs 10 points beneath them in the standings are off to their best start since the 1930s. Tavares and Willy will be just fine. Some fans always need a solution searching for a problem.

Eric Francis tweet early in the game last night “Tkachuk having huge impact as he predicted” probably doesn’t help

You realize we go through very similar conversations regarding Freddy every year as well? Your comment implies that having those conversations constantly should make you realize that Freddy isn't reliable?

Nylander isn't a complete player. He is one dimensional and frustrating at times.

But Matthews/Marner will cool down eventually. We will need secondary scoring and Nylander can be a big part of that.

- Leafs43

bingo, those guys will cool down for a period of time. Tavares needs someone to get the puck for him, instead of having to try and do it all himself. Not having a regular like Hyman on his wing or Simmonds to a degree has hurt him..

I would like to see Tavares with Hyman and Mikheyev for a period of time - both of those two are responsible defensively and can get the puck to JT. Whatever the reason the JT and Hairlander thing hasn't been working for a while.

Not Leaf related but I find this not great.

SAN ANTONIO — As millions of Texans shivered in dark, cold homes over the past week while a winter storm devastated the state’s power grid and froze natural gas production, those who could still summon lights with the flick of a switch felt lucky.

Now, many of them are paying a severe price for it.

“My savings is gone,” said Scott Willoughby, a 63-year-old Army veteran who lives on Social Security payments in a Dallas suburb. He said he had nearly emptied his savings account so that he would be able to pay the $16,752 electric bill charged to his credit card — 70 times what he usually pays for all of his utilities combined. “There’s nothing I can do about it, but it’s broken me.”

Mr. Willoughby is among scores of Texans who have reported skyrocketing electric bills as the price of keeping lights on and refrigerators humming shot upward. For customers whose electricity prices are not fixed and are instead tied to the fluctuating wholesale price, the spikes have been astronomical.

Maybe that guy wouldn't be relying on the government teat and his credit card if he didn't hate freedom.

I read this week that many Texans buy a form of electricity insurance to guard against this.

What an incredibly inefficient system.

One of the sportscasters was saying that his post-Muzzin temper tantrum wasn’t about Muzzin - it was because none of his teammates backed him.

We’ve all played with a guy like that. You secretly hope he gets his doors caved in so he learns a lesson.

I remember Matthews used to do a big fist pump celebration when he scores. Now he looks bored as (frank) and then points at the guy who passed it too him. It's great. It reminds me of Kessel's deadpan non-celebration. Matthews' 'it's just what I do every day' celebration is classic.

should be careful with comparisons here.

I haven't lived in Ontario for twenty years... but there were essentially never wide-spread outages anything like what they just experienced in Texas - at least not that I remember. Perhaps the massive ice storm... maybe in 97, 98 - which were weather driven resulting in poles being downed and people losing power.

those weren't broad based inability to transmit or produce power issues.

Texas chose the isolate themselves from the grid outside of their state (for reasons far to far below my intellect to comprehend). And they are looking at pockets in their own state (such as El Paso) which were fine.

the bottom line for any geography... electricity is an "essential service" and as such should be treated as requiring reasonable governance, reasonably guaranteed service and reasonable pricing - not some 3rd world make it up as you go bs.

so when everyone starts talking about "taxes" in the states.. and the attitude towards those taxes... this kind of mismanagement and braindead tonedeaf "leadership" is what you get.

Texas exceptionalism is on full display at the moment - along with a lack of clean water, no reliable power and death defying desire to defend the oil industry.
you can't make this shyte up.

unfortunately the league won't allow that to happen... they should have let Kassian ragdoll him for good couple of minutes before stepping in.

all the league does with this "stepping in nonsense" is create the next Marchand... really going to be interesting to see if the absence of Chara has an effect on the Bruins... cause they have another douche-bag in training with DeBrusk.
