Where does Tatar fit?
- TheGame316

In Dallas where he scores a double OT goal to clinch the cup against the pens.

I think we've seen the best of Dumo and he'd get the best return in terms of picks
- TheGame316

Why would you trade your best LD for futures?

Malkin finally gets to be the man.

But now you're talking about moving having to move two dmen out unless that's part of the plan.

We’re not getting Ekholm lol I just really like him. Big, grit, skill. Petts is ho is much younger and on a much longer contract would be the smart play.

Idk of dumo is the best left D anymore. Highest iq for sure. Last Injury affected him a lot and another ankle injury could take even more from him. I’d trade him while he’s still perceived ‘the best LD’ on the team.

Is Ekholm really that gritty though? He never struck me as a player who throws the body that much. He uses his size well, but I never saw him as a physically imposing player.

He’s not a big hitter till the playoffs where he saves up all his dirty plays.

Maybe so but only contending teams would be interested so you likely can only get you futures which doesn’t really help the Crosby Penguins.

Trade futures to teams like van, Anaheim, calgary that are up against the cap and might not want another roster player.

Oh true. Gotta trade away dumo to recoup all the futures JR trades away so you have assets to get roster players lol.

There’s no straight path to success in pittsburgh. It’s more of a waltz.

Sid is great and all but he will never be on the level of the GOAT Sergei Fedorov.

Don't forget Thomas Tatar.

He's in steep decline and I'd move him before it becomes obvious and his value is nil

I see Pettersson as a better long term option who is locked up

I can't say I've watched a ton of Nash games the last few years. I will say, he sure as hell batters the Pens around a couple times a year. That's not isolated to him however.

He’s not a big hitter. More of an elbow, cross check, and ride you in to the boards rougher than necessary type.

I agree with this. Let's also not forget that his offensive totals are inexplicably low considering his partner, most common forwards, and deployments. I mean, yeah, we know he has a muffin shot, but seriously, how do you not have 15-20 secondary assists per season in his situation?

Yeah I just don’t think you need a high end 3c. You just need competent players with some scoring ability. You already have an essentially elite checking line so the 3rd line just has to not lose you games.
- Feds91Stammer

Agree with this completely. Blueger line will eat a lot of minutes against top line. Just get some guys who are a threat to add some scoring depth.

Yeah that's how I'm leaning. I'd like to give him some games, but I'm concerned Dumo is starting to decline. Comes quick to guys like him. See Seabrook and Vlasic.

Rangers handed the Penguins a gift today. A win agains the Isles shoots the Pens to third.

Well obviously, and understandably, he had a decline after his ankle laceration. Maybe he just needs more time to fully recover? Idk but someone in NY said his new injury was an Achilles tear. That is def gonna make things worse if true. I think dumo has a good hockey iq and basically learnt how to counterbalance Letang’s style of play. Maybe that’s why Letang has seemed so off his game the last year +.

I’d rather deal him at his perceived high. Basically petts is a younger dumo anyways.

Pretty much agree. Petts has a snarl / more physical and has a better shot, but not as good defensively (yet). Otherwise, both are very similar.
