It means the another team is outshooting the Hawks even more when he is on the ice than when he is not.

The guy is getting close to 60% of his zone starts in the O-zone and while he is on the ice(not alone mind you), the Hawks are giving up almost 60% of the SAT.

The relative does account for how he compares to the rest of the team.

So the opponent is outshooting the Blackhawks when Strome is on the ice, does that equate to outscoring?
How is this an individual stat when there are 5 other skaters on the ice?

Don’t be surprised to see the Hawks go out and find a right-handed shot forward.

With Shaw out (possibly for good), as well as Dach and Nylander, the Hawks now have Ryan Carpenter and Alex DeBrincat as righties up front. THAT’S IT.

You can’t have Carpenter anywhere near your PP. That’s just one reason to look for the Hawks to look externally.

They could go cheap and grab Alex Chiasson - who’s been on waivers already once this year.

Or do the Hawks have their eye on more of a longer-term solution? Maybe a guy like Jake Virtanen? A Strome for Virtanen+ could be an option and such a Bowman move.

Virtanen - a former 6th overall pick - and Vancouver are trying to find their way right now and the Hawks could take advantage of that situation.

Virtanen is a right-handed, power forward that is struggling but had 18 goals last year. He’s 2.55M for this year and next.

Things that make ya go hmmmm...

I could see Strome for Virtanen+, I wouldn’t do that deal myself but I could see it happening. I wouldn’t get my hopes up on Virtanen, he’s be a major disappointment for the Canucks, more than Strome. The Canucks are struggling, they may be desperate to make a deal so the “+” could be significant (and it would need to be).

For sure, they’re really missing Markstrom.

Doesn't he also start in the offensive zone a lot? And shouldn't that help his CorsiRel?
- mohel

Him not sucking would help his CorRel%.

Yes. around 60% of the time. He offsets that by being on the ice for close to 60% SAT being against the Hawks.

Which means he is tilting the ice the wrong way.

(frank) no. Virtanen is exactly what this team doesn't need.

Anything more than 3 years from their draft class and its irrelevant where a player was drafted.

More shots against is going to lead to more goals against. Over a long sample. Like a season.

It measures against the other skaters. Its why its called relative.

They are missing far more than that. Their D corp is awful and that is with Hughes leading the league in assist or was a day or so ago.

He is getting dummied in his own zone.

TBH, the Canes had some effect with their pressure but the Hawks shot themselves in the foot an awful lot last night. And it was vets doing it for the most part.

That’s much of the Hawks’ MOnthis season )and the recent past) - put pressure on them at either end and they’ll wind up with shot foots.

Ya, I’m not giving up on Lankinen.

If the Hawks are targeting a right handed winger there’s only one real option - Rocco Grimaldi.

Yeah I thought the Hawks did a lot better counterpunching than Tampa did tonight.

CHI has some depth problems but they definitely make you work for it.

After a feeling out process CAR started to get physical on Tampa and they just backed off. Not sure what's up with them.

They're a scrappy bunch for sure. Bout all you can ask for with a rebuilding team. Some young players got a learning experience from it.

Please take de Haan back. He has been so so bad this season. He is just so hesitant with the puck. I am yelling at him to move the damn thing but he refuses to listen.

Virtanen isn’t good, and Canucks fans over on HFboards have been roasting him(their own guy) lately for how awful he’s playing. I know it’s HFboards but still lol...that can’t be a good sign.

Nah he's all yours.

He was a good defensive defenseman but he's had surgery on that same shoulder... What? Three times now? It's a wonder he can move the puck at all.
