You should get into growing your own vegetables. I’ve gone crazy. I’ve bought and then expanded a hydroponic system with 36 pods filled with lettuce, tomatoes, chilies, basil, strawberries, etc. I’m now transplanting them as soon as they get to be a decent size and have and 6 plants in the dining room. I just bought carrot, spinach, beet and other seeds and have started them.

My wife saw me walk in with a new bunch of pots this afternoon and just shook her head. I may have a problem.

But it taste so good. (Just lettuce and mini tomatoes so far)

Last summer was my first go at it, built some raised garden beds with gated access and piped some lines into the yard sprinkler system for irrigation.

Turned out pretty well, got a poop load of peppers, tomatoes, peas, beans, spinach and a poop load of herbs... Something got to my cabbage and a few other things though and munched the hell out of it.

Just started potting stuff to transplant last weekend, it definitely tastes better when you grow it yourself.

Yeah its awesome, isnt it. We have a Mr. Stacky hydroponic veg growing tower mostly we use for lettuce and leafy greens, and we also use Earth Boxes for growing the other veg you mentioned, and then just grow fresh herbs in pots.

What kind of lights do you use?

I'm really interested in this. I'm a gardener, and at one time I grew plants inside under lights, but I'm not gonna lie, they were ganja plants.

I always thought why would I go to all the trouble to set up indoor gardening if and grow just vegetables, but now that I don't use cannabis it makes a lot of sense. Fresh veggies and herbs all year would be amazing! And gardening under lights is so fun.

I'm intrigued because since I was growing under sodium lights, I understand that LEDs have changed things. Sodium lights get HOT and make ventilation a big deal.

What style of hydro are you using?

You guys are full of useful information about everything except (frank)ing hockey.

Complete turnkey system all ready to go. It’s got it’s own lights, watering system, pods with nutrients and seeds that are like Kuerig coffee pods that’s that you drop in. You can buy 3, 9 or 27 pod units. The 27 is about $600 US. You fill it up with water once a month and turn it on. The lights are on for 18 hours and off for 6 and use about 7c/day in electricity. They have a pretty good selection of vegetables and herbs but you can buy empty nutrient pods and put in your own seeds.

Wow, that's horrible. Ice storms are crippling even here, and we're used to that poop.

They were so (frank)ed over. Completely deregulated and company put no $ into upgrading equipment. Now those with power getting hit with huge (someone with $2,500 for a day bills).

Wow, these systems are very cool. I can't believe how compact they can get now with the new lights. So much cheaper too because it's not wasting electricity as heat. No exhaust or fans. I'm gonna get something like this. Fresh herbs, tomatoes and greens would be amazing.

I'd still like to grow a pot plant too even without smoking it, because it's such an amazing plant to look at as it flowers. I'd just give any harvested bud to some kids.

It's really sad. The negative partisanship on everything instead of just solving the problems is a drag.

Oh yeah, kitty likes the salad eh? I brought a full catnip plant home to my old cat once. He turned into a degenerate writhing on the floor.

We have to put cut flowers up on a bookshelf to keep him out of them. After he eats the flowers, he goes in the basement, pukes the stuff up and heads back for more. They say Poinsettia are poisonous, that’s one of his favs... he’s still here. I have a bay tree that I winter indoors. He eats that too. Swear the franker would eat a cactus. Both the dog and cat love fresh blueberries, olives, carrots and they are crazy crazy about asparagus.

I’ve got the tomato and chili plants in a bathroom in the basement to keep the cats away because they’re supposed to be very poisonous. The rest of the hydroponics are on a stand that they seem to be keeping away from. The transplanted lettuce they like.

I think it’s even dumber. It’s the basic philosophy of no government. They completely deregulate their system and are shocked when t(e companies don’t invest in upgrades. No state around them went through this.

AOC who they actually tried to blame??? raised $2M for relief for families. Beto O’Rourke who lost to Cruz used his political committees to try to reach people to get them help. Hate their politics or not, they understand the point if government actually helping

You’re definitely eating lettuce but they’re not big plants. The mini tomatoes are slow. I started 3 plants before Christmas. I’ve eaten about 8, there’s another 20 or so on there and one plant further behind just starting to produce fruit.

If you want any kind of supply, you really need the 27 pod machine which is about $600 US. My plan is to use it to start lots and transplant and start more and move some outside as it warms up.

I haven’t got it all figured out yet.
