I'm so into this information, thank you. What about the concerns around salmon in pens having an impact on wild stocks? I'm all for saving the wild, but farmed fish has a bad rep. I should really know more, since I probably eat a small school of salmon every year.

You should get into growing your own vegetables. I’ve gone crazy. I’ve bought and then expanded a hydroponic system with 36 pods filled with lettuce, tomatoes, chilies, basil, strawberries, etc. I’m now transplanting them as soon as they get to be a decent size and have and 6 plants in the dining room. I just bought carrot, spinach, beet and other seeds and have started them.

My wife saw me walk in with a new bunch of pots this afternoon and just shook her head. I may have a problem.

But it taste so good. (Just lettuce and mini tomatoes so far)

Thanks but it’s more just something that makes me feel good. Got a system for each of my kids for Christmas and then wanted one. I have to say there’s something really good about seeing poop grow.

They’ve got smaller versions which look kind of cool as learning things for kids - oh, food doesn’t grow in the store.

My late father in law was a commercial fisherman. His 2 daughters and sister in law all farmed, and he supported it. Sea lice was here long before fish farms

We do a full garden each summer. I have planted a bunch of fruit trees on the property as well. Still grow sprouts inside in the winter. I haven’t gotten into hydroponics but I find it intriguing. Growing your own food is liberating and doesn’t have all the chemical poop on it.

What kind of lights do you use?

I'm really interested in this. I'm a gardener, and at one time I grew plants inside under lights, but I'm not gonna lie, they were ganja plants.

I always thought why would I go to all the trouble to set up indoor gardening if and grow just vegetables, but now that I don't use cannabis it makes a lot of sense. Fresh veggies and herbs all year would be amazing! And gardening under lights is so fun.

I'm intrigued because since I was growing under sodium lights, I understand that LEDs have changed things. Sodium lights get HOT and make ventilation a big deal.

What style of hydro are you using?
