My guess is that Dumo is the odd man out, and rightfully so, IMO. Petts is only 24 with 4 more years left at a decent rate. He seems to be focusing on the physical aspect of defense which is a good sign. Even though Dumo is injured now and has been a fair amount lately, he might fetch more in a trade based on his reputation and accomplishments. - Hockey66
I think you are right. Vancouver and Winnipeg both make sense in terms of fit and need. I keep circling back to a Dumo for Virtanen + deal. The Jets have a bunch of good prospects I'd be interested in too. |

Any waived 4th liner player would be better than Janko at this point. He’d make a lousy chef because he’s afraid of breaking eggs with his lack of physicality.

I agree, and with Hextall thinking about the future I could totally see this happening. This is my preferred route. Loved Dumo but it's time. We can't pull a Hawks like what they did with Seabrook. |

Hasn't the Poulin/Legare ship sailed until their junior season is over? |

I always thought once the junior leagues started, and the players were on the junior roster and playing they couldn't come to big club until the junior season is over. Having said that, it's totally possible that rules were revised in Covid times. Also worth considering, I could be totally wrong on both accounts haha |

Just wait 'til the playoffs come around (if Sully makes it that long) and prepare to have your bubble burst (again). - Hockey66
He really has made some bad playoff decisions both in game and roster wise...and it's not even most of us having hindsight saying it now. We would be saying it at the time of or before the games he made these piss poor decisions in/for. |

I think Riikola for Adam Lowry makes sense.
I do like the thought on a Dumo to Vancouver. I wonder if Dumo for J.T Miller makes sense I know there were rumors in Vancouver that he might be shopped.
I do think Virtanen with his limited ice time and production. I see him even being a fit for a Riikola for Virtanen trade.
I think Riikola, Pettersson and McCann might be our trade bait once everyone is healthy. I think Dumo may be traded pending how much Ekholm lands in a trade.
My predictions are one for one deals
Virtanen for Riikola and
Bennett for McCann
Both deals would bring some size and grit to the team. I think Sceviour would probably be included in a deal as well to help cap wise.

I'm pretty certain that's accurate. I don't ever remember a guy getting called up from juniors. Only after their season ends.
I thought I remember them being eligible to play in the AHL if their junior season was cancelled. |

Viratanen is a decent enough fourth liner, but surely not worth $2.5 mil against the cap. We should look elsewhere with our limited cap numbers. I favor Sam Bennett because he’s expiring so if he continues to be nothing more than a 4th liner then we can just move on and be done with it. |

Is there someone who could be this year's Cullen? I say this making it well known I have no idea idea what shape he's in, but what about Filppula if DET retained salary? He's a UFA, a vet presence. Does he have anything left in the tank or is he dunzo?

I think Lowry might be a good pick up. Winnipeg has good center depth and need D help. It may make him expendable. He is a big body and helped Winnipeg as their net front body a few years ago with good success. He also has great chemistry with Tanev in the past. |

That’s a Feds question. I haven’t paid attention to the wings in ages. |

I remember when people thought that it was Lowry that made Tanev look good.
I wouldn't mind Lowry for a low price. But still think we need Palmieri or another scoring winger. |

If they get into the playoffs I think that will be a victory in itself. Mark my words, Sully will get a shot to coach next season after Hexy puts his touch on the team.
The part that confuses me is that everyone here gives Trotz praise but bash Sullivan. How many years in a row did Trotz completely blow it with the super talented roster? Remember how he would just whine like a little schoolgirl after every game the Pens beat them on their cup runs? Washington didn't even offer him a contract extension until after they won the cup.
JR has done Sully no favors over the past few years personnel wise. Let's see what he can do with 4 lines of nhl caliber players. - MacPatty
Sully won’t be going anywhere I know that much. I’m not fond of his just play attitude, but I guess since geno is the toughest guy on the team that’s prob a good thing. My issue with sully, especially since he used to be the blender and we complained about him not allowing enough time to form chemistry, is that he doesn’t make any in game changes. Every period is basically a new game. It’s ok to adjust lines based on who is hot/cold. Use last change on home ice to your advantage. He just doesn’t do that.

Lowry would be a great pickup. Alway healthy, physical, another pker, good face off guy. Bennet puts up slightly more points but I would prefer Lowry for sure. Sceviour and riko for virt as well I could get on board with. He is healthy now and mostly gonna be sitting in a box watching the games.
McCann, Lowry, Virt has some potential! |

I'd love Lowry, but I don't think he'd come cheap. He's one of those players who probably costs more to obtain than he's worth, but if the Pens can get him without giving up too much I'd be all in.
Also I guess it depends on how they view Stastny after this season. If they plan on keeping him then they have Scheiffele, PLD and Stastny down the middle, but if not then they'd miss Lowry.

I'm not sure where Dumo fits in Van though. Edler is probably done after this year, bu they have Schmidt and Quinn as their top-four LDs. I know Schmidt is playing the right side right now, but does he naturally play LD and this just out of necessity?
Riikola for Lowry would be an outstanding deal for the Pens and I'd even throw in a little something extra if they could pre-negotiate an extension.

Yeah idk. I know you shouldn’t figure out the dollars after but you gotta take what you get. A Henrique or palmieri fall in your lap. I’d figure it out lol.
I’d imagine they think no one will take him. It’s a gamble but might allow roster creativity if they can call him up and send him down over the next month. |

Ideally you'd get ANA to retain about 25%. I'd start with the Pens' 2021 2nd + McCann and build on the deal from there.

Giving up a 2nd and McCann is worth 25% of salary retention? |
