They might as well start playing games under water and on the moon.

Outdoor hockey games are stupid and the more they play the more obvious it is.

I never thought shadows would be so annoying.

my bad -- midnight eastern is return time for tonight's game

Midnight? Midnight? That’s 9 in CA. What’s the point of waiting until midnight? To assure no one anywhere will watch it?

And the flyers will play at 7:30 PM. I struggle to see the appeal of these outdoor games. Am I the only one who finds it totally pointless to play outside in the dark?

maybe all our players will come off the covid list tomorrow only to all tear their groins or dislocate their knees on the ice

Bad ice might help our ahl squad hang with The Bruins.

Flyers had to book a local roller rink for today’s practice since all other indoor ice rinks were already booked. The nhl made good though and provided all players with one ticket stub to redeem for one hot dog at the concession stand.

I can get 3rd and 4th line center depth any time I want, I don't need to waste the number 2 pick in the draft for it! However, I agree that speed alone does not get it done, in that you need to know where to go on the ice to be in the best position both offensively and defensively. And I'm sure its possible that Patrick can develop his game to become a 20/20 player like you said, which for contending team is a valuable piece.

- jd250

Really? Why didn't the Flyers go out and get center depth when they needed it in seasons past? You act like the Flyers were drafting Patrick at #2 thinking he was going to be center depth rather than a potential #1 center. That comment is poorly thought out.

But the Flyers are not a cup contending team IMO; they need a top pairing defenseman and a 40+ goal scorer much more than they need a 3rd line center if they are going to become a true cup contender. Whether its fair or not, Patrick is not living up to the player everyone thought he would be, including Hextall who thought he was drafting a number 1 center for years to come.

- jd250

If the Flyers can develop into a top team and perhaps win the Cup with Patrick as a 3rd line center behind Couturier and Hayes, would it matter if he didn't reach his potential based on where he was drafted? That's what you don't get.
Where he was drafted at this point is irrelevant. How he can improve to become a better player is all that matters going forward.

7:30pm EST is 4:30pm PST. The almanac is saying that at Lake Tahoe, sunset will be at 5:43pm PST and civil twilight will happen at 6:10pm PST. So there will still be some considerable amount daylight for this game.

Given all the difficulties this season and last have presented to the league, they should’ve nixed any outdoor games this year and come back with a full slate of outdoor games next season when fans can attend again. I don’t really see what the league is gaining by this logistical nightmare right now when considering everything else.

You would think the lighting and sun issues would've been something they would've checked out before the game.

Yeah, I made a mistake. Didn’t realize it was a 4:30 start PST. “Civil twilight”? The almanac? Is that still a thing?

Yes. It's not just useful for farmers, as has been obviously demonstrated.

It’s a west division playoff matchup preview. Looks to be a close one. Col with the better offense and Vegas with the better defense.

I understand.

It's not just a product, but a type of publication that is produced by many different modern content-providers in multiple relevant formats/mediums. (The Internet is especially a suitable place for almanacs since it makes searching for the desired data simple.) I'm not sure if there is any other term to call it by. "Calendar" is not the same, though a calendar is a subset of an almanac. Perhaps "weather-and-astronomy database" comes closest, but it's much easier to type-out "almanac."

I personally use different sites with typical data contained in an almanac. Mainly for astronomy and aviation.
