Patrick also seems to pass the puck away more than take it himself. Even when he has a semi scoring chance, he’ll look for pass. I always remember hearing he had a heavy shot. I’d like to see it more. But I won’t rip on the guy, the extended time away can be impacting his decision making and/or confidence. - arichardson22
I don't think he's playing poorly; just want to see him be a little more assertive -- on a consistent basis -- with the puck on his stick. His all-around game has been fine. But I will also say that Patrick went through significant offensive stretches of playing similar to his last seven games before he missed last season. I don't think it's just a matter of the time away, because he often played similarly in his rookie and 2nd seasons. |

If NAK never plays another game for the flyers, do you think that will have any effect on where they finish going forward? - login
Why do you think he is currently a starter? |

I was always harping on Coots offensive game, or lack there of, I'm kinda in the same boat with Patrick. For a second overall pick his lack of offensive skill is frustrating. I'll give it time, as I learned from Couturier.
Patrick just doesn't seem to possess higher-end puck skills, he's more of a north/south guy who plays on the outside a lot....the next three kids taken after him are just unbelievable players, the ones that got away - Dave21Brown
I absolutely disagree on Patrick’s pick skills. I don’t think he is a dangler fake dmen out of there jocks type of player.
Before he went out over a year he scored a nice between the legs goal. Last night he had a pass behind him at the ozone blue line that he made a very nice back hand receive on and kept the play going.
But he also can be more assertive. There was a time on the power play when Hayes was along the boards in Jakes normal spot.
Patrick was in G’s spot. A stride or two towards the net would have given Hayes a very open lane for a back door shot on goal.
The talent is there, the puck skills are there .the confidence not so much.
This is where the coaching staff really need to work one on one with him. |

I’d argue that he clearly has high end puck skill, and a good head for the game. He makes those subtle passes a guy like Giroux makes. He just isn’t asserting his game, being passive, sticking to the perimeter too much . - ClaudeFather
Patrick's skill was higher end for his draft class, but I don't think you could really say that he's really that high end for today's NHL.
Above average would be more accurate, IMO.
I think he's capable of making nice plays now and then... but truly high end guys can do it all the time, under pressure. |

Because he was far and away the teams most effective forechecker last season. And he is still one of the best forecheckers this season so far.

I don’t think he’s playing poorly either, it’s more-so a gear hasn’t been reached / unlocked. I’m ecstatic he’s even back playing for us and won’t call him a bust, ever. Do you think it’s a similar thing to Frost? I remember last season it was said Frost had stretches of not being as engaged in games as he could be. |

Considering you went from defending your stance to now pretending you never said it, I don't think that's necessary. |

show me 1 post I said he stinks. Just 1. Nothing to defend. Didn't think he was going to be an NHL player. Nothing more nothing less. |

He should be able to with ease. I think the Flyers jumped the gun on making him a forward. And now it seems like they are being stubborn when they could have clearly used him on defense when we had some injuries. - MBFlyerfan
He accumulated 9 NHL games on D in the almost 8 years since he was drafted. I don’t think “ jump the gun” is the right term to use with Morin. It’s simple really. He’s not an NHL player at any position. I’ll be very surprised if they offer him a QO after this season. Time to move on. |

Its ok I enjoy it. I cant be as knowledgeable as you with that catholic school education.
Keep in mind the GM and coaching staff (the experts) also didn't think he was an NHL player; nor did the prior regime. That is why he was waived very early in camp last year; also why he was roughly the 6th call up option when he got his chance. What do they know anyway.
I will be at Cheers in Port Richmond around 6:30 stop in. |

Idk it’s tough to really know with him missing an entire year , I hope he starts to show his skill as the year progresses. I think back to that goal against Montreal where he went under the guys triangle, threw a fake, and went upstairs. Or his shootout move against NYR and Arizona , those are all high level skill plays. |

The Flyers are going to give him every opportunity to succeed. I believe he's protected from the expansion draft. But look at what Kappo and Lafrenierre are doing. We need patience.
