The guy who messed our place up (among other things) cut 6” Vs into supporting beams when he did the plumbing in the ensuite above the old dining room. For unrelated reasons, on Christmas evening after dining just before we were supposed to make our final payment, a bathtub worth of water ended up on the dining room table.

Once we started trying to figure out why that happened, all his other (frank) ups came out.

He never got the building permit he said he had (he made up stories about inspectors coming by). He used sub par materials and charged for expensive stuff, and he di$nt know what he was doing.

We had known him for years, doing smaller jobs. We had given him furniture, etc.

Oh, he was (frank)ing our cleaning lady in our bed.

3 and a half years and two lawyers to get our money and it all got spent and more on doing an addition that required landscaping. But, would rather spend on making where we live nicer.

Holy poop ...I'm sure there are a lot of good contractors out there ..but it seems like everybody has a story or three about a bad one.

My Reno ended in an epic battle too. The work was good but they tried to get funky with their final invoice.

Best advice I give everyone who asks ....hold back 20% or more every time.

That's nuts.
Previous owners completely cut a supporting joist to install a toilet. Once we removed all laminate flooring, the floor sagged. I had to squeeze in another 10ft joist and sister it the existent one.
All they had to do was move the toilet over 2 inches

A few fun tidbits from the tour:

- I met Andy Frost. About an hour later, I realized I should have asked him to record the "I'm not here, leave a message" message on my phone. How franking cool would that be?

- We got to watch the warmup from the penalty box. It was a Flyers game, and there was a Flyers defenceman (I want to say Pronger, but I honestly can't remember) who kept ripping the puck at us. He never made eye contact - but he knew exactly what he was doing. It was franking hilarious.

- I got a personalized jersey. They asked who I wanted - long pause - so my wife blurted out "Palmateer!" They asked what number he wore. I of course said "29", and then worried that I had a brain fart and got the wrong number. They delivered it to me in the 1st period - size XL. Thanks guys, I weigh 106 lbs.
