I appreciate the troll game, but you really need to bring it up a bit. 👍

Especially if you're starting it . 💤

Great post. Hard to lead off the ice , being a tool....

Lead by example on the ice you say:

Celebrate goals by yourself

Snap sticks in half

Physically impose your will when the team needs a jump

Pout with your head down

Score big goals at big

Might want to let taco know. He seems to be argumentative in regards to trading or even consider trade eichel.

I'm all for the Sabres doing a complete reset.
But it comes with qualifiers:

I) Pegula's turnover complete control of organizational operations. They're owners, so set the budget and then get out if the way. (Go tell the Yacht builders how to build the damn thing)

II) Experienced, proven hockey people run Hockey Ops from top to Bottom. No more up & comers until stability is established and winning is achieved.

III) All of Hockey Ops is pulling in the same direction, tightly aligned and properly staffed

IV) Trade whomever, but if it includes Jack, the return must involve acquiring a solid 1C prospect back plus a fair amount more...~4 premium assets total.

V) No boring style of hockey. Go up tempo, make it fun.

That's it, all I have.

If you weren't excited about his game last year, I don't know what to tell you. He was as good as they come.
His game fell off a cliff this season from the 1st game...that should tell you all you need to know.
It was very obvious he was playing through an injury (rib) and gave it a go but was limited...f-sake he couldn't take draws for a game or 2, and his shot was no where near what it was.

I'd prefer to keep him...the challenge is that he is not Captain material. That is a tricky kne to deal with, but I suspect he would be better just focused on the on-ice game rather than the leadership position.

Mackinnon was drafted in 2013.

The Avs didn’t win their first playoff series until 2019.

Eichel has as many playoff series wins as Matthews and Barkov. A big old goose egg.

I guess all three players should be traded for their lack of playoff success.

All of this, yes please. And just for Boss, can someone send this to Terry along with a copy of the article below...

"Whatever title is not what turns my crank," Gillis said. "I think when you have a truly high-functioning, well-organized company or sports organization that titles become less relevant. It’s more productivity and how you work together."

At one point last year, I made a comment that Jack was better than McJesus. When he was dominating during that stretch last year, he looked unstoppable. We could have had 7 Eakins and 4 Irwin’s, Darren Pang in net and Jack would have won games for us. I don’t know if an injury or lack of interest down the stretch slowed him down but he’s body language changed to similar to what we are seeing this year down the stretch. Maybe he just couldn’t carry the whole team anymore and it all hit him that he’s the only hockey player on this team? Don’t know but no one can argue that he was not the best player in the league for 30-40 games last year because he was

And I’ll go with my “culture” shift idea. If pegs does what you outlined above. One of the things the new power structure does (president-gm-coach) is pull all letters for the season. You rotate the A’s monthly, do not name a captain. And set the team leadership structure in ‘23-‘24 season.

It gives the entire team a reset. It gives you a look at some different players in leadership positions and it hopefully drives a player to EARN the letter...

I'd rather be a colorado fan or a leaf fan then a sabres fan right now

but continue

leafs had winning record last 5 years
colorado the last 4 years

both teams exciting to watch

the sabres are the most boring team in the nhl with probably the worst record over the last 6 years

stop defending this losing team

I agree, don't want to trade him. But if he wears the C he needs to step up and lead his teammates. Losing sucks, but that is when a Captain needs to lead the most. Can't sulk or carry no emotion when things start to break down cause the rest see it and they crumble. If he can't handle that then it would be in the best interest of him and the team to put the C somewhere else and like you said just let him concentrate on hockey.

This team needs a reset from top to bottom, and some of the core does need to go, cause it breeds losing, time to reset the foundation.

I’m not defending the team.

I’m defending the player.

The “team” is the reason we suck. Not Jack Eichel

It’s gotta start at the top. It just has too. No bass ackwards, hire a coach, then a gm and get lucky.

Remove Kim from the power structure. Set the budget as an owner. Hire a President that has had success and experience and let them do hockey things.

And just for boss... Gillis. Gillis. Gillis.

Don't need him to be a rosy kid in the locker room.

Lead on the ice. That starts w body language.

and if the kings, rangers, sens or another team wants to overpay big time

consider the offer

I mean we traded hall of famers like dom and oj before and life went on

if there is no decent offers, you don't trade him, but after this summer your not going to be able to take offers from any team

I think briere's 3 year run here was better then what we have seen from eichel, we are just so frustrated with the sabres that we can't see the light
