Leafs only have 10 guys with more than 5 points.

If they want to take a run at the cup, they need more guys contributing.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers,

- bixll

You're ignoring the injuries to Simmonds, Thornton and the guys who have only been inserted into a few games. The better way of looking at it is - the Leafs only have 4 players who have less than 6 points after playing most games - and two of those are defensemen not known for their offense.

I'd like to see more distributed scoring, but I'd also like to see more established lines. The bottom six so far has been a little too 'by committee' for my liking as well.

17 of top 36 point getters in North division
Also played the most games, no covid

- mr.sir

If you go to NHL.com's stats page, you can sort by points/games played.

It shows a much more accurate depiction.

Spoiler alert: the Northern Division isn't as point-happy as people think.

close game for the Leafs last night

Jumbo Joe robbed of goal last night

I don’t think you should be able to shoot the goalie and the puck into the net, fair call.

Move Nylander to Kerfoots wing. Give Kerfoot and Engvall someone to look for. JT wants to shoot ( and he shouldn’t pass anyways 🤣 ) and Nylander has a wicked shot this year it seems, just hasn’t been getting a lot of looks.

Eng Ker Willie

Hyman JT Mikey

He's gotta do something about that 2nd line.

He's not going to split up Matthews and Marner, that would be foolish. I thought Tavares looked a little pissed off last night, like he wasn't happy with his winger. I say (frank) it and roll Tavares Matthews and Marner for a game and just get JT going, maybe he can capture a bit of fire and spread it to Willy. Because Nylander has be awful lately and they cant just let him continue to suck. A trade isnt that far fetched at this point.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Maybe, but I think it's still too early to trade Tavares

games are getting tighter also in the North, it was wide open the first 10 games, teams are closing the neutral zone now and we are seeing a lot more lower scores.

I think certain teams match up better vs certain teams.
- Garnie

Has always been the case, regardless of how better one team was over the other. Sometimes a team has the others number. As far as Ottawa goes, Smith has intimate knowledge of what the Leafs are about, could that have an impact on how tough Ottawa plays the Leafs?
There are countless reasons why they play the games.

It's funny, I immediately said "no goal!"

But after seeing some replays last night after the game, I'm not so sure.

He was pushing the puck up against the goalie's pads, which kinda sorta isn't the same as pushing the goalie's pads into the net.

Moving on...

I agree with you, the bottom 6 needs to have more consistency.. Shuffling players in an out can't be easy...

Tavares will retire a leaf in 6 years or earlier if he tries on Hossa’s jock. Cant see him ever being traded unless we rebuild before. 😮😳

I really dont know what to make of the Leafs season so far.
looking at stats and breaking down into last 10 games, last 7 games...stuff is all over over the place...some stats are bad.. corsi 45-47%, but high danger is good 52-58

just simple gaa they are 10th in ga/game, shot and goal differentials are decent.

team sv% is in the middle of the League.

if the playoffs started now, its against edmonton...would I feel confident they win..no, but also yes

Go Leafs!!!

- senstroll

Tough to be 100% confident, but you have to think if the team puts in the effort they should be able to handle the north.
