Really? I thought he controlled the puck and moved it down low quite well. He did score two fake goals lol. Wish he had got the Waved Hattie.
- Zezel

I keep thinking of the play behind the net where he couldn’t control the puck because it looked like he was doing a 3 point turn with Chara’s stick

Thornton does like 15 smart little things in the oz zone along the boards each shift.
dude is 41, I never really watched him much since he was out west most of his career..must have been a beast in his prime..Leafs should get him a cup

- senstroll

It reminds me of watching Leetch, where I didn't watch him for most of his career and then I find myself saying oh, that was smart over and over. He's really crafty.

In what turned out to be a soft division, this superstar team are where they should be.
- Fakepartofme

I don’t see how you can compare one Division to another with no crossover play.

He’s always been slow and he’s always been good.

Leaf fans: “Thornton’s too slow”

Weird it’s Chicago again with good tending stats, sort of like NYI.
- Garnie

are you arguing that Chicago's system is helping goaltenders put up better numbers, or that Chicago is good in picking up good goalies?

If you're referring to Lehner -- he's been great with all his teams so far (Ott, Buf, NYI, Chi and Vegas as well - he's really quite a good goalie).

He has value, on a lower line or PP. I would love to see Mikheyev’s speed cycling in the o zone with M&M

Shots: 2nd in NHL
Takeaways: 4th in NHL

Lazy bum.

Should have taken Dubios so that we could have the best centre tandem in the NHL. If only Craig Button was our GM....

I mean, they did just recently outscore Vancouver 15-5 or something over 3 games, so they have just recently eviscerated a weaker team. Does that count? That contributed to their winning record too.
- Zezel

VAN destroyed OTT 16-3 only a few games before playing the Leafs.

So maybe styles make hockey matches? Leafs crush teams that try to rely on skill victories (VAN) and have deep issues with lunch pail teams (OTT, MTL).

So yeah, sure, it counts -- but it'll be lunch pail teams with skill that we have to get by to win Stanley's mug.

Mikheyev and Engvall together provides good speed and size
Tavares has worked miracles with less 👍

I like when they’re announcing his shift time. He’s up to a minute and thirty seconds on this shift, but really he just skates from the net to the boards while Matthews and marner are doing circles. I don’t think he’s wasting any extra energy. Vet move.

Leafs only have 10 guys with more than 5 points.

If they want to take a run at the cup, they need more guys contributing.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes, I agree... I felt the same about Leetch and how he'd make things look easy.
Thonton has been good in the offensive zone with Matthews and Marner, he is really good at protecting the puck.

On another note, Tavares and Nylander had some decent chances, but they couldn't do anything with them.. Maybe it is a confidence thing?

I still didn't understand why Boyd was on PP1 last night?

Interesting take.

Completely wrong of course.

But interesting.
