I would love to see Guddy back here next year on a cheap contract, but unless he wants to win a cup he will take that in Ottawa. Guddy is from Ottawa and is stoked to play there. I ate crow on acquiring him. He can excel as a 3C, just not above that. And once he went to Anaheim Dallas Eakins made him go beast mode with the physicality over there. Something pitt needs.

I think MM has drastically improved his play. I think a bit of it, for all D, has been luck as I have seen many missed assignments where a guy is wide open but the puck doesn’t make it anywhere near him. But all in all the D system is much more structured. Collapsing to the net, watching the crease for opposing players, the forwards back check through the neutral zone was unreal in the 3rd. All these factors will help MM, as I’m sure all these factors helped Jarry. Individually though it is nice to see ceci, MM, jarry drastically playing better and getting confidence. Even Letang was less retarded last night, now if he could just simplify and trust his partner a little more he would be alright.

Dumo on his off side is asking for trouble. Cant trade letang and not find a RHD coming back in another move. That's why a letang deal mid season is so difficult. Has to be an offseason move with another move (trade or FA) lined up.

Breaking up plays is also supposed to be one of his strong points even when he has struggled. It's all about decision making, he improves that, MM becomes a pretty good defenseman. Usually a tough thing to bet on improving, but maybe he pulls it off.

It'd be nice to make a hockey trade of dumo/petts for a RHD as a follow-up move. That's a lot of moving pieces mid-season tho.

Read some interesting rumors in Vegas that they are also looking to upgrade their 4th line and Reaves may be someone who is shopped to free up cap space. They also talked about Lehner potentially getting a few starts next week when he comes back from injury. Maybe we could swing a 3 way deal moving a LHD and a winger to get Fleury and Reaves. It would definitely be a locker room boost.

Dumo had to play a few games on his off-side a couple years ago when a ton of RD were out, right before we got Gudbranson, and was actually pretty good at it. He hasn't looked good so far this season though so it's probably not a good idea, but at least it's got a small sample of working.
