I remember watching that draft on TV. Scotty Bowman was working for the Pens at the time. He was interviewed and said "We just won the draft. We got the best player. Jagr is the best player in this draft." The media were gushing over Nolan, Nedved and Primeau and even Mike Ricci. I was very happy with the Primeau pick.
But then when I watched Jagr dominate the 1991 playoffs with Mario, I recall thinking "Scotty Bowman was right." 🤣 |

When that puck bunny tried to blackmail him not knowing he wasn't married was epic. Her Czech hockey player boyfriend was like "You (frank)ed my hero?" |

Freddys confidence is frail
Fans are on him hard....maybe not as deserving as we think. But he isn’t a goalie I’m confident in putting a string of 7-8 games of solid play. - Santo_44
Last Saturday game was not that bad...
He is not a bad goalie but there are better ones.
For the ones whining about the refs, just to remind you that you got 0 penalty Saturday night... This tells 2 possible things... You are soft or the Refs were favoring you... They may gave it back to you yesterday...
Refering in NHL is so poor...

Reminds me of the great Boston snowpile:

It took until July to melt.

I was out there for 30 mins and just got the top layer off. The packed down snow ain’t moving anytime soon. |

Assuming no major moves I have the Leafs with about 8 Milly in space to try to sign/replace Hyman and Freddy.
They need to find some value in one of those spots. Maybe it's sign Hyman and trade for a cap friendly 'keeper?
Cap might get better after 21/22. - The Law
They’re going to lose $ this year so I think they need to dig out of that hole before they can start to build some positive revenue for cap growth. I doubt we see much at all in 22/23.
Did you include moving Kerfoot? |

Just under 1.3M left in LTIR + Vesey’s remaining cap hit of under 700K
I’m assuming Vesey would be the guy out of the lineup.
Granlund’s remaining daily cap hit is 2.6M, btw. - Steven_Seagull
Maybe leafs have to trade a couple warm some bodies for granlund. With the 2 week quarantine maybe that’s why they picked up galchenyuk. |

Yes, the reffing Saturday night was clearly one sided, with them handing the Habs (***checks notes***) one penalty in the first period. |

I always support the idea of an outside perspective to smash the old boys network and start running the NHL teams in a more modern, forward-thinking way.
Yet it always seems to end in disaster. |

Keep Hyman
Trade Rielly for some good futures to restock
Trade willy for a decent forward replacement what a bit cheaper (extra $$ to Hyman)
Sandin/Dermott have to be able to fit into the lineup by next season.
Maybe look at David Savard as a UFA.. - senstroll

well there is plenty of stuff out there on the old boys club...also, you have people like Lebrun who im sure is a nice guy, but he has a direct line to the GMs testicles so he can fluff them up every couple days...he would never report bad stuff or hold an actual critical thought |

This stat from @NHLNetwork stats dept is... wow. lol.
Ottawa had trailed by at least four goals in 240 regular-season games prior to Monday with a 0-237-3 record in those contests.
The Senators now hold a 1-237-3 record in said scenario.

I am wondering about the 'why's' behind that theathletic hitpiece though.. Because these guys aren't part of the 'familiar in-crowd' ? I have to imagine a lot of sports organizations are run in a non-optimal way.. |

Isn’t that the definition of insiders? They just pick up stuff that GM and agents want out there. Guys like Kipper were better connected to player agents. They lose their pipelines if they (frank) around too much.
The NHL is pretty much a shut up and keep in line league |
