Ugh, my are home for a snow day.
- Fakepartofme

Took me about an hour and fifteen minutes for an eight km roundtrip drop off for my younger daughter at school this morning.

We really should have had a snow day.

I think it's a die roll. He's a low risk flier. We haven't had good luck finding a second line LW to play with Tavares and Nylander. Mikheyev has speed and puck pursuit, but lacks the offensive instincts. Hyman hasn't had much of a chance, but Keefe wants him on a 3rd line. Robertson was hurt and may need to prove himself in some game situations first. Galchenyuk has a top-6 upside in theory, so you give him a shot. If he pans out, it's great. If he doesn't, then you have your options of moving him to the bottom-6, or waiving him, or trading him for someone else's never-was prospect. His cap influence is, I believe, $75k if he's in the minors or on the taxi squad.

Compared to the bottom 6 players (one of whom would be a top-6 guy if Galchenyuk doesn't work out): Hyman, Kerfoot, Simmonds, Engvall, Spezza, Boyd, Petan, Vesey, Barabanov, Robertson . . .

He might bump one of those guys out, but if he can't suit a top-6 role, then probably not.

Hyman has been Leafs' best forward so far this season, and he's back on teh 1st/2nd line.
He's been incredibly consistent so far, playing really well, and with a 5-7 crucial screens on Leafs' goals he didn't get an assist on, but was 50% responsible for the goal.
If Keefe puts Hyman back on the third line, it's time for get rid of Keefe.

My car has like 20 cm of snow all over it. I think I'll wait for it to melt off.

ya, agreed - KD sees some potential there. We were trying to figure out Wedgie's question about why we gave up an 'asset' as opposed to just grabbing him off waivers.
- The Law

Ah. To that point, your suggestion that having a guy who cleared waivers has some value is probably accurate. They can float him into the lineup and if he doesn't work out, they can put him on the taxi squad.

That said, I would echo with you guys that there should be no fear of losing him if he doesn't work out. Try him out and if he doesn't pan out, waive him, and if he clears, fine . . . put him on the Marlies or the Taxi Squad. If he doesn't . . . whoop.

Who will replace the screening skills when Hyman is gone next year? I know he does lots more and I really like the guy but my guess is that he is the odd man out.

Should you need to sneak out for some takeout. It's light - I used a broom - no scraping needed.

Hyman this season so far has the 3rd amount of ice time for all forwards.
Keefe plays him plenty

5v5

Marner 262min (16.37)
Matthews 258 (17.2) - played1 less game
Hyman 235 (14.68)
Tavares 227 (14.18)
Nylander 209 (13.06)

feels about right to me

yeah, I did the walk and the driveway and road in front of my driveway in 3 minutes - and that's including the drift that the snowplow left in front of my driveway.

Keep Hyman
Trade Rielly for some good futures to restock
Trade willy for a decent forward replacement what a bit cheaper (extra $$ to Hyman)

Sandin/Dermott have to be able to fit into the lineup by next season.
Maybe look at David Savard as a UFA..

Assuming no major moves I have the Leafs with about 8 Milly in space to try to sign/replace Hyman and Freddy.

They need to find some value in one of those spots. Maybe it's sign Hyman and trade for a cap friendly 'keeper?

Cap might get better after 21/22.

What if someone were to not have shovelled in a month and packed down the snow with their vehicles. How long would that take?

I know a mining engineer, he should be able to help you out if you can get a hold of some civil explosives.
