At this point the Leafs should try sending one of their players on a fishing expedition to northern Quebec in a single-engine plane. |

I saw Korshokov play 3 times with the Marlies in Belleville - he is huge and plays.....small. He reminded me of Ponikarovsky with less skill, he was far from anxious to use his size to his advantage or be physical and was pushed off the puck far too easily fro a guy his size.
My guess is if he ends up in the NHL full time he's a 3rd liner at best and a mediocre one at that. - Cush29
I'm not arguing that he was good.
But isn't having a "3rd liner at best" better than not having him? |

Are they two people? - Fakepartofme
Gally was a D-man and I think he does the Sens broadcast.
the other plays for the Leafs now and maybe the Marlies |

Korshkov is 25
He’s a C prospect
Would not fret over losing him - Santo_44
the 2016 draft is so annoying...they Leafs could have had 2 of these players
Kyrou
DeBrincat
Girard
Carter Hart
Adam Fox
instead of korkov and woll |

I think part of the reason to move him was that at his age and where is is on the Leaf's depth chart he wasn't going to crack the Leafs line up in the next year or 2 and by then he is what 26/27?
In addition I read that it might have been a way to drop 2 contract spots for 1 which the Leafs may need if they are going to make another /more moves.
Lastly - I also read there is a thought that he may not want to come back to N/America and stay in Russia and maybe the Leafs have a feeling that's quite likely the case?

Maybe getting galchinkuk is insurance...someone who can play in the NHL now (probably) instead of maybe...a few years from now.
Trades/injuries or waiver losses ..need NHL players to bring in |

Maybe Dubas realizes he is going to lose Engvall on waivers and that is why he signed LW Galchenyuk?
Still can’t believe we gave up Korshkov - mr.sir
Why put him on waivers if we’re going to lose him? That line was pretty good for the whole 7 mins Keefe gave them. |

Plus it opened up another contract spot I think, traded 2 for 1. |

That's still two years of entry level contract before he goes UFA, is it not? - Atomic Wedgie
Not sure but I think he was put on waivers Sunday ...meaning the claims period ran through Monday. leafs traded for him prior to waiver period closing and therefore get him before some team grabbed him off waivers.
Maybe?
If Leafs wanted him and believed he'd be grabbed before them on waivers then Canes' aren't going to do the Leafs a favour without a payment of some kind. Korshkov is maybe the equivalent of a $2 nominal payment. |

Yeah, my wild, no insider knowledge guess is that he told them he doesn't want to come back to North America next year to play for the Marlies, so at that point he's a dead asset to you. |

I think they waited for him to clear so now leafs can move him between the ahl and nhl without putting him on waivers. Plus he never left Canada so he doesn’t have to quarantine. |

alright ...then the waiver clearance must have been of some value to the Leafs or else they would have grabbed him off waivers.
Maybe now they can stash him on the taxi squad without waivers (value)
Or by not using waivers they maintain their slot (not sure how that works).
There's obviously a reason ...we just haven't figured it out yet. |
