just checked.
nylander is 81st in NHL 5v5 goals / 60 last three seasons. (minimum 25 games played)
the /60 avoids the half season issue.
that's a fringe 1st line FW.
EDIT: fringe 1st line FW considering his main strength should be scoring goals. - MaximusAurelius
Give us the goal differential that’s the real story. I’m lying in bed and not too motivated to be sorting through stats. 😎 |

Cool to see everyone out with their predetermined fall guys for a team collapse. Plenty of blame to go around which means everyone is right. A happy day in Leaf land - Canada Cup
It was a garbage end to a good start. The emotional sway gets people in a frenzy. I'm not sure what this team needs in order to learn to finish teams off and not get complacent, but they have a real tendency to do it - starting with our best players in Matthews and Marner.
Every player has off nights or off moments, but it's rare that so many coalesce together at the same time. Tavares, Nylander, Kerfoot, Vesey, Spezza, Muzzin, Bogosian, Rielly and Andersen all had bad games.
The team has problems that we all know about. Rielly is great but not great defensively. Brodie has typically added nice balance there this year. Bogosian is tough, but can be a defensive problem. Last night he had a bad game - right from the opening faceoff. The offense had us forgetting how bad he was on the other end of the ice for while, but he was bad. I mean we all call for Vesey's blood, but he doesn't even play enough to be a factor. He stinks, but who cares? Most other players in his spot that we have available will also stink. I guess based on performance this year, I'd rather Petan was playing - but would that change the outcome?
Someone posted a few pages that they needed this. As much as I hate it, I have to agree. They deserved it, too. They have to learn to play consistently and together for the full 60, or we'll have to find new and exciting ways to complain the team.

It's also a strange comparison from a data perspective. It deliberately incorporates the worst year of a player's performance which involved a hold-out, missed training camp and so on. Do we all know that he failed to show up in game shape? Yes. I still think that was unprofessional, and is always a consideration about his character when you watch him take shifts off. I think he probably is, at his core, a lazy player and will always require a lot of a coach's attention to motivate. But this character evaluation is not equivalent to a data comparison, and the data unfairly influences a data comparison by including that year.
If you take the last three years, though, and look at GF/60 at 5v5, there's a whole bunch of other garbage players who are lower in GF/60 like Malkin, Evander Kane, Eichel, Laine, Landeskog, Crosby, Scheifele, Barzal, Kopitar, Rantanen, Sequin, Marner . . . you know, classic non-first liners. Fringe. Or crap, if you will. Not to mention Roope Hintz at 152 and our newly annointed first liner, Galchenyuk, sitting at 282 using this metric. - Monkeypunk

The Rocky Saganiuck Invitational Hall of Fame. It's very exclusive. You wouldn't know about it because there's a crudely painted sign hanging out front that says, 'No Habs!'. |

Chucky must have great value after not getting claimed on waiver - Symba007
He's got a really low cap hit, so that's what makes him very attractive to other teams.
We bundle him with Dermott, Bracco and Christian Hanson, and teams will be willing to give up a 1st pairing RHD.
And a lot of young teams want a guy like Chucky in the dressing room to help mentor the young kids - the coaches can use him as an example of why you should stay away from drugs. |

Tavares didn't have a bad game - he's been absolutely poop for about 5 games now.
He's still getting insignificant points, but gawd, he's looked awful. He's fumbling with the puck. He's missing passes. You saw his multiple giveaways last night. He's bumping into his own players.
Something's not right with the guy at the moment. |

Because Willy has no (frank)ing clue where to be on the ice now that he's been told to play more defensivly. |
