I don't understand how Galchenyuk fits. He has some very good offensive upside. Great shot, wicked release. But, he is very weak in all aspects of his defensive play. Not sure of how he plugs into the Leaf roster. Leafs already have a surplus of strong offensive skills. I would have thought a stronger defensive forward with some grit might have been more needed.

I think we start the dismantling with Matthews, let the league know we mean business about this rebuild. I mean, the writings on the wall after that loss and our team plummeting to historical depths in the standings.

You start with Matthews, then Marner and leave JT and Nylander until the end. Rats, sinking ship, you get the drill.

Keefe said the other day that part of Tavares and Nylander's offensive struggles is because they were working on some changes to their game to improve their defensive play. He also said that they scored more goals last year, but they also gave up way more and that they have made a gain in their net goals for vs against. That is with Freddie playing his pooptiest hockey to date. But what does Keefe know?
