If we had this level of goaltending, we would’ve won tonight.

It'll never happen.

No point in waiting for this because he simply doesnt care about that part of the game.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

He didn't care about defense at all a year or two ago. So yes it could happen. Your vision is about as good as Freddie's was tonight.

Keefe said the other day that part of Tavares and Nylander's offensive struggles is because they were working on some changes to their game to improve their defensive play. He also said that they scored more goals last year, but they also gave up way more and that they have made a gain in their net goals for vs against. That is with Freddie playing his pooptiest hockey to date. But what does Keefe know?

Over a thousand comments on elderly Joe's return to the lineup? Really? Lol.

Cool. 18mil for two players to figure out how to play defence.

Im pretty sure he didnt say, "dont get any points, just work on your defence."

Bench Nylander, put Galchenyuk in his spot. See what happens and send a message. Maybe get a good game out of the guy against the team that just traded him, as usually happens against the Leafs.

Tkachuk looks like he was born in a remote highway gas station toilet stall.

Should the Leafs be interested in Nic Paul
1.35m until next year

Or go all out for Miles 🪵 @ 2.75m

How can the Leafs continually have some of the biggest blown leads year after year.
New GM, new coach, new players
Only 1 constant..... Morgan Rielly 🤔

Watching the breakaway goal to lose in OT and... is the poke-check dead? Seemed like an easy poke-check situation🤔but it never happens

Lots of teams blow big leads. People just don't notice them because they aren't the leafs

Freddie didn’t help us tonight that’s for sure.

Some nice goals scored by both teams but we needed Freddie to have 1 extra save tonight.

It was so leafy, my phone went off when it was 5-2 and I figured we were going to blow it. ( taped ). Checked phone later and it wasn’t about the Leafs.

That’s frickin awful. Matthews had the whole net to work with.

It looked so familiar, I’m sure we’ve lost in the exact same fashion last year.

I swear we say this several times a season with these leafs teams.

Lol

- Fakepartofme

yes, we do.

I don't think there has been a team with more embarrassing collapses than the Leafs in recent memory.

I wish I still liked to booze. I used to like playing a drinking game where you took a drink everytime Stompin Tom said the word Snowmobile while signing that song.

I could now take it up a whole new level either drinking every time AA took a shot at Nylander, or cried about posters being mean to Freddie....

Dude if you live in a glass house you should not throw stones.....

- jribout

To be fair, AA is not wrong about the Nylander we have seen the last couple weeks. Both him and Tavares have been horrible and it is clearly not one affecting the other, BOTH are bad.

Yes, THAT goalie is standing up, not 15 feet out for no reason, or 3 feet wide of the net leaving it wide open. It looks like he is covering some of the net. No way that is Ander5en.

It started when at 4-1, every player on the team wanted to get a goal... (Kerfoot shooting instead of passing, Dermott with a low-chance slapshot etc.).
Basically, the team thought they coudl free-wheel through the rest of the game.
Some brutal plays by Bogosian, Andersen off his game, and rest of the team without a lot of effort (Willie!) or just playing awfully (Tavares) - perfect recipe to lose vs a very bad team.
Biggest worry to me: the lack of effort by Matthews on the 3 on 3 goal by Sens (he didn't skate to defend at all).

I guess the only positive note: at least we didn't lose after being up 4-1...

Even when he's scoring goals he's still not doing any of the little things right. But his mistakes get forgiven or forgotten. Im not hard on him because i don't like the person, or cause so many of you's have a man crush on him, its because he's selfish. He hasn't progressed, he wont show even the slightest interest in standing up for his teammates, and he just wants to showboat after scoring goals. You're all hoping for him to "man up" and get tougher, but he wont.

He’s wrong often, but not here.

A couple of times last night I noticed AM taking his time getting back on D.

I don't understand how Galchenyuk fits. He has some very good offensive upside. Great shot, wicked release. But, he is very weak in all aspects of his defensive play. Not sure of how he plugs into the Leaf roster. Leafs already have a surplus of strong offensive skills. I would have thought a stronger defensive forward with some grit might have been more needed.

Does NHL Stats site track goal differentials on comebacks? I know it's suicide watch around here, but I'd be curious to know how often teams lose games like this. Gotta be more than a few a year in the regular season.

this thread is discussing it

https://twitter.com/Evolv...tatus/1361528984815730689

the last team to do such a thing was the 2010 cup winning Hawks (with such a high win prob)...so its a good thing that happned...thats the only conclusion
