I'd like people to stop saying its a soft team when the big bodies who were brought in are 1..injured or 2..just came back from injury.
- Aaron_85

Ok, so outside of those 2 players, the core is a soft team.

They play with a soft mentality.

Simmonds changed that a bit, but still nowhere near enough fight in the dog.

Matthews plays physical enough for a star player. So does Tavares....

Willie and Marner not so much

At least Marner racks up the points and Willie is working harder getting back on defense.

Just bench him. send a real message.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

This I agree with.

My current top 3 sh1t list...

1. Andersen...IK, we don't agree here.

2. Nylander

3. Tavares

Special shout out to this useless cu3t....Engvall....so many other options for the 3rd or 4th line.

Tavares doesn’t hit, I don’t recall any good hits tonight from the forwards. We have ample opps to hammer guys and just skate by....sad sometimes.

You don't have to throw checks to be physical. Being strong on the puck and rubbing players out on defense. Winning more of those battles than losing is good enough for me.

I don't understand the Galchenyuk deal. He has a great shot. He has a quick release and can score if he plays with a set up man. But he is really weak on the defensive side of his game. Would have thought the Leafs would have been more interested in a stronger two way player

If you don't put up a ton of points you are crap.... that is a well established philosophy on this board.

I agree, hasn’t been doing that often enough and he’s gotta be the worse passer in the league a lot of times. ( exaggerated 😜 )

That last one isn't his fault. Bogo should batted it away before it went in after bouncing of the post and then Freddie's shoulder....

He has killed a lot of plays in the offensive one and some brutal defensive zone giveaways. He works too hard for it not to turn around. I say 2 more games with Hyman and that line will start clicking. In the first period Tavares and Hyman were doing some good work on the boards. Willie just couldn't get open or the puck wouldn't get through to him

Unrealistic. He would have been on the ice after the first beach ball.

I will try to build on your positivity......

Mikheyev worked his butt off again👍
Dermott played well
Engvall was good

Why the hell was Boyd on the PP?

Tavares x 2
Vesey x 1
Andersen x2
One nice play. Chabot-White-Brown

Nylander looked disinterest most of the game, I don’t get it. Maybe his girl is ducking Matthews or something.

I am a baby steps type of guy. Players like him will get their points eventually. His defensive zone coverage needs a lot more work but you can tell he is at least trying to get better defensively. He backchecks hard several times a game now. He needs to win puck battles along the boards in the defensive zone like he does in the offensive zone. He is getting back on defense just needs to be better positionally

It'll never happen.

No point in waiting for this because he simply doesnt care about that part of the game.
