Carolina has made an offer for Gibson that got turned down.
- pens4life-66

Interesting a Gibson trade is possible. Wonder what the ask is for possibly the best goalie in hockey who is young and on a good, long term deal?

Yea Rakell has seemed to cool off. I guess Getzlaf would be the better pick for this season. Or could Rakell come here and start back up?

I was reading a ducks blog last week and they think rakell just doesnt care with how bad the team is and is just coasting. Seems to them more like a lack of effort and care. Slow to pucks, etc.

I was trying to think of what the Pens could offer for Gibson, but I don't think the assets they'd be willing to give up exist.

I don't really wanna trade for Ryan Getzlaf unless we knew 100% we could extend him. I think he would be a great off-season target.

As for moving Poulin or Legare. I don't think either of them should be moved. They both continue to play great.

I think McCann and Pettersson should be our trade bait at this point (even though I feel they will save Pettersson for the expansion draft following the season).

Do you happen to know the offer? So the Ducks are in sell mode already it seems..
- 668710

Nothing on the offer at all. Was within the last 4 days though. Could have just been to see where both sides are at.

Are the Florida Panthers winning the cup this year?

Getzlaf? Sign me the (frank) up. What an edition that would be. What a fit. Instantly transforms them. Burke definitely wants this, that's his boy.

Might depend on how the Ducks value Jarry.

The problem for the Pens is that there is no easy way forward. I think it's clear they aren't going to bet the farm on this season, but they also don't have their first this year if they stand put and miss the playoffs.

I'm beginning to think it's a no brainer to move Letalng at the deadline. I'm also all for a Malkin move if they can get a great return. I think they can retool quickly with the assets they would get.

I don't see it either. Our couple of prospects are B/C level guys at best. Can't offer them a couple of good roster players 'cause you open too many holes to patch. I think the Pens are going to nibble around the edges with this team. Add a couple of fringe pieces. Probably a vet tender. People are saying Getzlaf, I'm thinking Grant. I don't see Hextall making huge offers for UFA's.

Could Zucker be trade bait as well? the only trade out there would have to include many moving parts. Does adding one player really help the Pens? Do you invest in Gez and get rid of the Potentail future....and than take the risk that our goalie situation can get it done currently. Tough call

It would be a very limited edition.

Gibson coming our way will have to include Jarry and both our prospects...plus a#1.

That won't do it. That's just some crappy lottery tickets.

Zucker could be but I think he is on a fair contract and is a really solid all around player. Maybe if they were going for a total game changer.

I was thinking about trade bait... Agree on Zucker. McCaan and Petts too. Those are the guys that might get you a decent player in return. I hope they take a little time to evaluate this club. Let the D get healthy.

First thing they should do is work on an acceptable 4th line. Should be the easiest to fix.

I would bet very low on the chances of Zucker being moved this season for the simple fact they need to add to the forward group, not subtract, but I'll say with JR gone he probably has less people in his corner.

I am on the record as stating that our 3rd line would be a great 4th....for a cup contender that is. Am i wrong? Stats can be misleading , i am not convince they can score enough.

Maybe a smaller deal of Nicolas Deslauriers for Colton Sceviour. Or Rakell for McCann?

I do admit that Getzlaf at RW or 3rd line center would help us really make a positive push if we acquired him.

Personally I think the Pens need to add two forwards to be competitive.
