Suter and Janmark have top 6 caliber skill sets IMO. Love their skating, hands, etc. Those 2 are great plug-ins(i could see both easily putting up 20/25ish over 82 games) that can play alongside Kane, Cat, Dach, Kubalik, and hopefully Toews too.

So I thought the knock on Subban was
1) He gives up soft goals at the wrong time
2) he only plays well when he plays a lot.
He has played excellent playing basically one a week. |

We were outplayed in this one for sure. But overall we've been exciting to watch, can't deny that. Lately we've been finding ways to get points more often than not. |

I thought Janmark was the best forward tonight, he played a really good game, and defensively hands down it was Mitchell. |

I kinda feel bad for him. He was dealt a bad hand. TB to start the year where the team was absolutely pantsed, and then Delia got his turn, then Lankinen, who since hasn’t looked back. If we started the year with Detroit, this all could have been playing out differently. |

Agreed....Suter has the hands but Janmark has been a real eye opener for me. My God does he make incredibly smart plays and his speed is really needed. Great to see that JC did not allow Strome on the ice in OT. He can be used in the shootouts but is way too slow for 3 on 3 hockey.
Also....another nice game of hits for Reese even though in limited ice time. I hope they keep using him in that role.

I love how the reporters sound shocked that the Hawks are playing as well as they are in their questions.
Oh my God can you believe you guys are playing as well as you are, hahaha |

I recant in my old statements... always want to win... glad to see us pushing through with the young kids getting ice time and winning, although beit in regulation would be better.
I want to see big Paul and his cronies shooting their mouths off on their board.
Go Hawks! I hope Hagel keeps his motor going several nice plays tonight and I love how he competes |

Yeah, after 15 games you would think they would find something else to talk about. |

It was John Marks. Not Keith. |

The forward had just way to much time and space in the middle of the ice, to bad - BetweenTheDots

A bit weak along the boards but i appreciate he's hustling back on defense, i saw him gliding in past games more than pumping this legs like tonight - BetweenTheDots
A stiff breeze knocks Strome over. He is pretty useless anywhere on the ice unless he has the puck below the goal line. |

The best thing that happened to the Hawks are the injuries to Toews, Dach, and Seabrook. Would Kurashev even be dressing if Toews and Dach were healthy? How about Hagel? How much would Beaudin have played if Seabs was taking that 7th D spot? The kids have gotten a chance, and they can play.
I thought de Haan and maybe Shaw and Carpenter would be dealt this season, but the Hawks are in this. Even if they end up dropping out of the race, the offseason is going to be fun.

To respond from the last thread. I never said The Avs D-men weren't good. I said they were inexperienced. In a PO series teams will work that against them. Its pretty hard to win in this league with 4-5 guy with 2 years or less experience.

Lankinen and Subban has formed a very effective goaltending duo, who would have thunk it? |

I’m not surprised to see Lankinen emerge as the #1 and I’m not alone in that. But you’re right, nobody thought goaltending would be one of the Hawks strengths. Most of us thought the Hawks would have an Ottawa-type record (at best) by this point in the season. |

No question, I think he's a better coach than his brother. |

I really like the speed factor that the new faces have added to our team. Its been sorely missed over the past several years.
Guys like Hagel, Janmark, Suter can all fly. Especially Hagel. Kurashev is also a very strong skater. So that's 1/3 of the forward lineup that's been reworked and injected with game-breaking speed. DeBrincat also looks noticeably faster than he did say 2-3 years ago(going back to his rookie season). He's clearly worked on his skating. Him and Kane together are electric. Kubalik is also a solid skater. Add Dach to this when he returns(VERY sneaky speed for a guy his size. He covers ground with huge strides and i was blown away by his skating ability as a rookie) and you're looking at a very fast group of forwards.
Then you look at the blue line(where we've really been hurt by some slower paced bodies overloading our depth chart) and you notice the same thing. Mitchell, Beaudin, Carlsson, and obviously Boqvist when he returns can all skate very well. Night and day compared to guys like Svedberg, Dahlstrom, Rundblad, TVR, Gilbert, Seabrook, Koekkoek, Maatta, and others that have lacked mobility over recent years. Its equally important that they have solid decision making(as we've seen with guys like Gus, good skating only takes you so far as a defenseman...), but still the point I'm focusing on is the mobility. And its noticeably better on the back end.
Overall the team speed is looking very impressive top to bottom. Its fun to watch. Still a few guys like Strome and Zadorov that leave you wanting more. But for the most part we're in great shape moving forward.
