Claim Carlsson, why not?! - mrhockey2k
+1
One of Detroit, Ottawa or Vancouver should absolutely be taking a chance on the guy. Could be another Ryan Graves, needs a change of scenery, type. Galchenyuk has had enough chances.
“Big stay-at-home defenseman with excellent reach and good hockey sense. Carlsson is also quite mobile for his size and has a good first pass. Offensively, he will never put up any big numbers, but has the potential to become a more than capable shut-down defenseman.” |

Hopefully this is done! Danny D is not going to reliable this year, and most likely he will be bought out this summer or go the LTIR route next season.

McIlrath, Hirose and Fulcher assigned to GR. Opens 3 taxi squad spots for D, F, and G. Not sure if it’s a paper transaction or no. Deke could grab the McIlrath spot. Wonder if they’re swapping up a forward. |

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Brome to the taxi squad and Svechnikov get a few games. |

Wow. Not surprised, but this is yet another head-scratcher.
Would The Captain package Mantha (please NO) & DK for someone? CAR for Fleury or Pesce?? CAR needs scoring at the back-end, DET needs reliable D. CAR could move DK to LTIR, bury his $5m and be ok. I am NOT a fan of dealing Mantha, but who knows what lurks in the hearts of GMs?!?!? |

I don't think anyone wants Danny.....he probably is just healthy enough to play a few games so he won't stay on LTIR. Maybe this was an agreed upon move with Danny to take more time off and just practice and stay active that way. Maybe Stevie is ready to pull the trigger on a bigger move and needs the roster spot. STAY TUNED!!!

Galchenyuk MIGHT not be a bad move, but to what end, I'm wondering. Why not bring up a kid for a spell to buy time until Veleno, etc... are done with their respect overseas seaons. I honestly think that Seider will be up by the end of the seasn....and stay. Ya'll that kids a beast. He'll pair well with someone like Hronel or Stecher to get some experience. Can you imagine a pairing of Hronek & Seider??? Dude, I'll buy a 4-acre field of that!!! - mcmastermike1968 I was not serious on 2 of these guys, but would take a flyer on Carlson. He would be a replacement for Danny.

Maybe Stevie really needs to save as much cap as he can for that big strike near the TDL
St Louis will have to clear $7M for Tarasenko's return - HenryHockey
🧐🧐 Curious as to who you think The Captain may be gunning for, H? The reason I ask is because I’ve been feeling there was something afoot, but couldn’t imagine who’s on the radar....and who would agree to come to DET! I’m hesitant to believe a “big fish” is willing to come to us, but also wonder what the impact would be if, say, Seider makes the big club this Fall, now we have an abundance of D-men (NEVER thought I’d say that).
Now, IF it’s say Fleury from CAR, I’d be open to that because of the impending loss of so many D guys this season, and some cap space to make a splash this summer.

Thanks for the info!! Welcome to the board (not seen you here, so WELCOME!!). I was looking for some info on Carlsson, but wasn’t seeing much. DET could use a solid stay-home guy, young, hungry....Could make sense. |

I’m kind of a Galchenyuk fan, but not totally sold on him, by any means.
Hey, if we sign Carlsson, we could name hime “Killer”!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m feeling The Captain’s had just about enough. If you look back at what he’s done in the past at TB, he’s made some low-key moves before something bigger. Not really sure what’s going on, honestly. Kinda fun to play around with speculation until the ship hits the fan & we all say “Damn, whoda thunk THAT move was coming???”
The reality is, I’d think lots of guys would want to play for someone like Stevie, but are hesitant because of Blahhell being behind the bench.
I dunno🤨🤔

I was looking at rosters and wondered if it would be worth trading goalies with Buffalo.
Bernier and Djoos to Buffalo for Hutton and Montour
Mountour is a rightie but plays LD as well as RD and is an upgrade on our D
Hate to lose Bernie, but would be glad to upgrade the D
Can sign Hutton for minimum salary to expose him at the ex-draft or sign another vet this summer to expose.
Mountour would be a rental so is he worth extending as a condition of the trade? I think he would take a bit less because his numbers have not been good w/ Buffalo. His stats were much better w/ the Ducks. |

Everyone thought they would go for a better goalie like Kuemper....but Az is playing above their expectancy and may hold on to him now. The Canes were still rumored to be going for even more scoring as well......could they make a play for Mantha????????
Mantha for Necas, Gardiner (retain $1M) and a 2nd |

Meh I’d rather just keep Bernier and Djoos. Montour never became the player he was expected to be. |

Hmmm....Hutto’s had a varied record, not sure what BUF has in the G pipeline, but that could be interesting. Fulcher’s not doing anything, Petrozulli (sp?) is lighting up the college ranks but is still a way from making the NHL. Thus, I would opine that a solid interim G may be in order. Bernie’s good, Greiss is as well (if he could just get some help in front of him...). Montour’s a decent D-man....interesting proposal🤔🤔

DK is best used as a LTIR dump, which could be alluring for a cap-strapped team. Finding a dance partner for a LTIR dump could be done, but he thinks he’s still a desired entity.... He’s a decent back-end guy, but his time’s passed and his injuries are more frequent and time consuming to heal from.

Gardiner is done, I think. His best days are definitely behind him. I’d go w/Pesce for Mantha (retain $1m or so) & DK.... |

I could be wrong, but I suspect the issue with DeKeyser is that he is "healthy enough" to be medically cleared to play, but his back issues (combined with age) have limited his performance level to the point where he just isn't good enough to crack an NHL lineup anymore.
Under those circumstances putting him on LTIR would technically be considered illegal cap circumvention under the terms of the CBA. Although I'm pretty sure other teams and players have gotten away with it under similar circumstances. |

I read that he’s taking a long time to heal or some such. If the LTIR requirements are what you say, then we’re stuck like Chuck. 😤😤. Could buy him out, but his hit & Abbey’s wouldn’t be palatable in a rebuild. Could dump him in GR, but due to his tenure I believe all we can write off is around $1.2m...not a big deal for us right now. Be nice to open up a slot for Lindstrom, Hicketts, Dylan Mac, maybe even Cholo (get him some ice time, maybe generate some interest across the league - probably have to retain $$ because he’s a reclamation project...).
