Going full AA is a major improvement over going full Santard.

This D (yes, it's early) is the best I've seen in Toronto for more than a decade. I'm taking a temporary break from trading Willie for a D.
Things may change in the summer with the expansion draft and depending on how the playoffs go. - The Law
Yeah, my trade allows us to deal Rielly away
Sorry, my opinion has changed
He was my favourite Leaf for 3 years, now I think we could get a boatload of assets and still have solid replacements |

I'd keep Nylander. Trading him is what Chiarelli'd do.š - Zezel

Bennett career renewal strategy
Step 1. Ask for trade - done
Step 2. Wait for Leaf fans to declare you a legitimate top 6 forward - done
Step 3. Wait for Dave Nonis to return as Leaf GM - Canada Cup
His agent is a genius.
I've watched him play 10 minutes of hockey but even for me that narrative of playing for/like Gilmour has always been such a tease. It's the DG93 God effect. |

Iām wondering if the Leafs will end up taking the option of protecting 4D, 4F.

Have an agreement with Hyman to re-sign him after the expansion draft.
You risk losing Dermott, Mikheyev, Engvall or kerfoot. All of those guys are easily replaceable through free agency. |

Rielly would be a tough loss but his cap hit and the fact that he keeps showing enough inconsistency to his game has gotta make you think twice about throwing 8+ at him.
Tough call. It'd be easier if Sandin or Lehtonen showed they could run a PP. |

Ya that might be what makes the most sense. I guess in that scenario it basically comes down to whether they prefer risking (Mikheyev or Dermott) or (Holl or Dermott). |

Mikheyev is a faster yet less effective Kapanen. |

I think they are going to have to be a bit more aggressive working Lehtonen into games to see what theyāve got. |

Virtanen sucks. He and Miller are $8M. Pearson is a UFA and Juolevi has been 8n and out of the lineup |

Iām really wondering if it is worth it.
Why are we investing resources in a guy who is UFA at the end of the year, who we canāt protect in the expansion draft if we re-sign him, and who probably wants to move to a team who can give him more ice time?
Trading him may be a better deployment of our resources. |

Seeing what weāve got if it means sitting Dermott occasionally isnāt too big a cost and will be necessary if weāre going to trade him. Heās shown improvement but is still a ? Need to know what he is |

Too much to debate š
All 4 Canucks bring a physical element and we get our new goalie at a great price to share the crease with Campbell
Money also works
Pearson would resign for similar $
Juolevi was the best dman last game against us, got under Matthews skin, and is still improving at a small cap hit
Btw.... Kerfoot sucks and makes 3.5m

Agreed. Holl at 2 million is working towards 'must protect' status. I guess it plays out this year and we see where it stands after the playoffs.
Lots of options. |

Just went into Capfriendly's expansion tool. Mikheyev doesn't need to be protected.
Leafs have to expose 2 fwds and 1 def
Kerfoot and Engvall plus a Defenseman almost makes too much sense.
So ya I think you're right 4+4. |

Its one game. All teams look bad at some point in the season. Even Boston and Tampa have losses they aren't happy with. |

Bogosian cant be used as an exposed player because he doesn't have a contract for the next year. |
