Where is Adam Burish? Is he doing any Hawks analysis this year? I'd take him over Konroyd any day of the week.

Whoa, Never knew he was of Greek descent.

I know he hasn't scored yet, and I'm sure that'll be the talking point until he does, but Hagel is an absolute beast. Total puck hound and creates tons of havoc around the net. I can't wait until he dents the net.

I brought this up during the last game on Thursday night, but Hagel right now reminds me A LOT of Saad during his rookie season(2012/13 when we were on the epic run on our way to the Presidents trophy and SC) in that he's flying around, noticeably performing at a very high level, but just can't seem to get that first goal. And then when Saad FINALLY broke through the goals/points kept coming in bunches, and the rest was history...

I'm hoping Hagel follows that same path. He looks like he has all the tools.

What's up, Duffy? Hope all is well with you. Hopefully, for your new year resolution you stopped being pessimistic. The constant negativity was bringing this place down

Guys. Tonight was fun and all, but I think the biggest highlight of the night was Hagel with the absolute beatdown of Laine.

Laine had 5 inches and 30 pounds on him. That was impressive. On top of being a very good skater, he can truly bring toughness. That’ll put some teams on notice. He’s gonna be such a key part of this team’s new core. Beaudin scored right after that. Huge shift in momentum. Hawks end up winning. Great night.

Comeback win by the team after the missed opportunity two nites ago, comeback game from Lankinen, first win of the year after being down after the second, regulation goals by the second youngest skater on the ice and the second oldest, another great OT combination of 88-12....

Those, I think, should be the highlights....

The fight was at 15 minutes into the first, Beaudin’s goal was at 3:12 of the second.

Yup, couldn't agree more.

DeBrincat

Hagel

Boqvist
Beaudin

Lankinen

Those are the obvious choices that have separated themselves from the pack IMO

Then you've got: Strome, Nylander, Reichel, Kalynuk, Carlsson, Regula, Barratt, Entwistle, Teply, Vlasic, and whoever we take with our 1st pick in the upcoming draft. Those are all possibilities too to eventually contribute to a contending core. Some might eventually work out and join the already established group mentioned above , others might be busts. Time will tell. But there's a TON of talent to work with.

I'll play Darth since he's obviously off tonight:

"Hagel will be out for the season with a concussion next game."

3/4 of those guys are likely not NHL players...

I phrased it poorly. I meant directly after as in what followed suit after not immediately. First win of the year after being down in the second is another good reason, but I think what made this particularly a highlight for me was the fact that he haven’t seen this kind of side to a player up front. We know Shaw’s scrappy but that’s not really him. We’ve seen Lankinen look great. We’ve seen 88-12 work their magic. We’ve seen the young kids step up on a multitude of occasions this season. We saw Big Z - Benn the other night, but who’s the forward that’s gonna step up in that instance? In the regular season it’s not as important, but when the game gets physical in the postseason you need the kind of toughness that Hagel just deployed on Laine’s face. On top of him having skill, who’s to stop him from having a Tom Wilson-esque trajectory which is an integral player to have? Not going to overreact after one game, but this was very encouraging to see from him.

On top of having eventual cap space to supplement the roster with veterans when the team is ready to step up again.

2007-2008’s season is the comparison I’m making (though the talent is different).

Just a matter of time. He does all the right things and goes to the dirty areas.

Plus, it was fun to watch him land two punches and knock that ugly Finn to his knees.

Vandymeer prolly still hasn't recover from it.

Nice to see a fight in a hawks game. I almost didn't believe it when I saw the link on YouTube that Hagel dropped someone. Haven't been this pleasantly surprised since Burish ko'd Nystrom. That's a change you take everytime if your a 3rd or 4th liner and the other team wants to fight you, you drop the gloves no matter what. Unless that guy is prime Eric Lindros or Owen Nolan. Good game good fight. Glad Reese Johnson got in. So he had 5 hits in limited minutes which is good. I like him and Hagel over Highmore (Who is like Jim Dowd Curtus Brown Fernado Pisani) bad.
