I guess I'm not quite as sensitive to the conspiratorial Bruins rhetoric in here as you probably are (it's not my team, right?). So fair enough!

I just looked at the standings and I was like: poop, the Bruins are still (frank)ing rocking it despite not even having Pasta to start the season. Will this team ever come back down to earth?

Never quite understood Bruins hate and, yeah, there are some calls that I obviously - as a Leafs homer - find questionable when we play your team. But I'm definitely not one who rabidly hates them...

... ask me about the Habs.

And lol, yeah I got sensitive about it. It’s built up over the last 8 or so years

We want Hutch!

That would prove our dominance

- mr.sir

A win with Hutch in net would be so demoralizing! Habs would never recover. Lol

Two quick points and then I am done:

- it’s not that the league favours the Bruins. It’s that the league for years has implemented an incredibly stupid standard for what is a penalty, and more importantly what is not a penalty. And the Bruins have built their team to take full advantage of it. Chara would get away with killing guys in front of the net on any team, but he played for the Bruins.

- it’s not like only Leafs fans are the ones who complain about the Bruins and poor officiating. It’s a league-wide whinge.

- Atomic Wedgie

I can't remember who posted this link the other day, but I found myself nodding quite a bit while reading it:

https://faceoffcircle.ca/...of-a-league-wide-problem/

Personally, I think the Bruins have established themselves as a hard-working, physical team that thrives in the grind and has the skill to elevate them above the Isles-like teams of the league. There's maybe a reputation that keeps whistles down as a result... but I haven't put much stock in that. I think the Leafs have to learn how to play harder and draw more penalties while also making sure refs are calling legit penalties against us rather than Kerfoot-esque love taps.

Fair play to you on the first bit, but as I’m sure you’d admit, any team could’ve built their own the same way.

As for the second, just because everyone seems to gripe about Boston and officiating doesn’t mean there is something going on here. The whole hinting at league wide conspiracies to help the Bruins just gets old after time. The league isn’t out to give any one team advantages and if you think they are (general you here, not necessarily you), than I wonder why even watch in the first place?

No worries - totally get it!

It’s harsh but fair. I don’t watch a Habs game or Leafs game not involving the Bruins and perpetually criticize every call that goes the way of a rival team.

Oh the Habs are a totally different animal.

Disregard everything I said. Total league wide conspiracy with those guys. Someone call 911

There is nothing more creepy than Facebook suggesting I friend-request my friends’ daughters.

I would pay $10 a month to be able to block that.

Somehow was on Facebook last night. My sister had texted me with a heads up that someone posted a school picture I was in from grade school, in a Bramalea group. Was kind of fun to read the thread and remember some of the people ... and a little sad that most others I have no recollection of at all.

I assume it just that the taxi squad is fancy robidas island (no game action) while the AHL will be playing hockey soon (maybe).

I went ahead and deleted my Facebook. I watched The Social Dilemma and was thinking about it anyway. About a month after watching that, I finally did it and haven’t looked back. I got sucked into the app way to much and am better off without it. I’m not trying to sway anyone in that direction or anything.

I did try and get my sister to watch it so she might limit my niece’s screen time as she gets older and kind of monitor social media habits. She’s only 9 months so I thought it could help prepare. She’s already infatuated with screens. It’s also not my place at all, but I figured a recommendation to watch something without any context hoping that she formulated her own opinion wasn’t too much of an imposition.

I can agree with your first point and still say that there are plenty out there that actually think there is some conspiracy. They’re not mutually exclusive.

Exactly this.

"a good veteran non-call" - Jack Edwards.

I don't know what the (frank) that is supposed to mean, but the NHL does.

Dude, let it go. It was over before it started.

Start focusing on the SDNY AG’s office. That’s when justice will come to town.

Of course, he won’t actually go to jail or lose his money or anything...

Hello Clarice. Have the Habs fans stopped screaming yet? I once ate half a lasagna at Wedgie's house with a can of fava beans and a nice Chianti. Then he threw the other half of lasagna out for no reason. Ffffffff...

If we are asking tough questions, how does a player lick another player - twice! - and not get a penalty?

Anthony Hopkins is perhaps the worst over-actor of all time. His portrayal of Hannibal Lecter had the subtle nuance of a drag show. And the movie itself just wasn’t that great.

Watch the original Manhunter. 100 times better, and that Hannibal Lecter was truly scary.

Nope, the problem is that the league is, for some reason, loathe to enforce the rules. It is like there is still this old-guard out there deciding that the games should be dirty and scores remain as low as possible.

This has been the problem for the Leafs. Dubas has, stupidly, assumed that a team based solely on skill could succeed and that their powerplay would be their enforcer. The flaw there is obvious, especially in the playoffs.

Boston had better special teams. They could afford to run the Leafs all over the place. The penalty calls were going to even out anyway. so ultimately they realized they could do whatever they want, both disrupting the leafs and winning the powerplay battle from the even-up calls.

I don't want the NHL to turn into basketball, but I would like to see it a little more like football where they see a problem, they implement a rule.

The glaring example this year was the crosscheck on Matthews. We all know that happens all game long. The problem is that it is a penalty that is clearly not called and not calling it only serves to even out the play for the less talented teams.
