Also true they have stepped up. Hopefully when the meat/potatoes games really hit their bottom 6 and 2-3 D pairings can keep up. It can be a weak spot for them.

Chevy has never be one to not upgrade if he see's a hole and can fill it. I could see them use Veselianen as a trade chip this year.

Gillis ran the team into the ground, it was kind of obvious that he would be fired, the team was going nowhere. There was nothing for prospects, nothing in the AHL and a team with a bunch of ageing vets.

Gillis wanted a rebuild. Aqua said no. Gillis ran that thing into the ground to spite him.

Kalsarikännit - Finnish for drink at home in your underwear without planning on going anywhere.

Sounds about right today

NHL

LeBrun was saying the league wants to change the draft lottery . Of course they do Canucks are playing terrible.

I’m a bit surprised that the Canucks didn’t raise more of a stink when Lu “retired”. Another reason to can Benning, he’s the lead wussy in an organization full of pussies.

What would be the point of rebuilding if you can't draft if your life depended on it?

6 years. Bo Horvat and Ben Hutton, Kevin Countanon are the only 3 players from 6 years of drafting in the NHL still.

Benning has 4 players from his first year alone.

I didn’t say it was a good plan, only a good idea.

And yet a lot of idiot fans consider him our best ever GM because he added a few pieces to a core that brought us to a SCF. If he is our best GM ever, no wonder we never won anything. We hire egotistical jackasses as our GM and we will never win.

I was sort of pissed at that too and also that Loui does not have a uniform related injury that he has to go on retirement .

I am fine with him going just bring in the proper guy . Don't make a rush decision.

I still ride out this season with coach and GM in place still. FA could consider changes in the off season if he feels the need. Speak to them and see how the plan is for next season, then decide if that's the way he wants the Canucks franchise to go.

If the candidate is available now, you may want to make a move before another team does. If they lose tonight the market will but a lot of pressure on the team.

There’s speculation there’s an “out clause” for Francesco Aquilini on Benning’s contract, as there was with Mike Gillis’s. I say he’s going to use it.

No more rookie GM’s unless you hire an experienced President of Hockey Operations. The organization needs to stop the cycle of inexperienced general managers.

Yup. Also, I don't think the franchise can afford to 'ride it out' with Benning & Green if they keep losing. There won't be any fans left at season's end if they keep flailing with those 2.

I think if the right person was available now he would already have the job?

Pitts just hired a new GM , I like Hextall but I didn't think there was a strong list of candidates.

Sakic walked into an elite superstar in Mackinnon. To go along with Landeskog at 2 and Duchene at 3.

Benning walks into Horvat at 9. Managed to get a couple of 5's plus.

Can’t deny that he stepped into a nice situation but he’s done a great job building a deep team around the pieces he inherited. Very similar to Yzerman in Tampa
